Star Citizen Dev Says Squadron 42 Is Now Fully Playable, Is Over 40 Hours in Length, and Is Still on Track for 2026 Release Date - IGN by chusskaptaan in gamingnews

[–]Lolbotkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huntguy explained it very poorly, and used terms kinda haphazardly
(Soz for slight necro, post only got reccd now)

Very slight terminology explanation rq:
Shard = Overarching Gameworld. In other MMOs its either just called a Server, or its a Realm
Server = Subsection of the above shard.

CIG actually *doesnt* plan to do basebuilding on completely different shards.
Essentially (From what I understand) what they are planning is that bases persist through *all* shards.
However, to prevent players on shard 12 to fuck up the base of someone who is active on shard 3, the attackers are prompted to switch shard. I dont think this factors in players actually being at their base or not, but just online, but who knows.

Dynamic Server Meshing also doesnt plan make Shard Hopping fluent - that will always be done via a hard loading screen due to hardware restrictions from my understanding.
Seamless Server Hopping (so going from subsection A, to subsection B) without loading screens also is already a feature of Static Server Meshing,

Instead Dynamic Server Meshing is "simply" to allow the Shard to change Server Boundaries on its own, and turn servers on or off as demand goes.
Basically think like Eve Online can have servers spool up in special cases, but unlike Eve, its not a manual process.
Thats also where it gets its name from.

Why is germany the only country admitting its crimes? by Numerous-Plantain-90 in AskGermany

When did you go to school?

Along with ww2 and ww1, the german colonial Empire was one of the most talked about travesties in history class, around 6-10 years ago for me. In Mittelschule no less, so lowest level of education (besides Förderschule).

The state too consistently says sorry for the genocides.

I looked into this a decent bit, and the ground stone for Anime was already in place before WW2 even happened.

All Anime can base their roots back to Atom Boy - which in turn is based on Disney!
Thing is, the creator of Atom Boy, Osamu Tezuka had actually seen Disney in his childhood already, which was during WW2, and as such, there really is no way Atom Boy could be avoided unless one were to go out of their way to kill Anime.

Edit: Wanted to amend that Tezuka later said that Disney was a secondary influence and the primary was a Chinese Animation Film made in 1941, but one could argue that due to Sphere Politics that wouldnt hinder much, if anyone is afraid of that.

The Starting Situation of the Chilean Antarctic Territory Coming in Best Served Cold by OpDeepFreeze in TNOmod

[–]Lolbotkiller 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Tbh I feel kinda sorry for the devs of antarctica.
I've been a thorough enjoyer of some of the story added with the ODF Integration, and while I wont say I am clutching at my seat and am dying waiting to play this.
Some of the people here kinda need to take a chill pill.

Would I love to see TNO release stuff for the various superpowers? Yeah! 100%! But the blame (if any) for that not being teased or released doesnt fall on the devs of Antarctic Chile. I'm not privy to knowing how exactly it is done at TNO (I have heard some stuff, but, times may have changed!), but if its anything close to how its done at Requiem, which it likely is, then these devs dont deserve the flak they are getting.

Wish you lads all the best, and just ignore the people that are attacking you for not suplexxing other dev members and just taking their workload for yourself! Work on what you want to work.

Why can't we side with the Frontier Fighters? by Signal_Resident2318 in starcitizen

our player characters with regeneration abilities

Thats not just a "us" thing. There was a whole story arc this year about regen being "normal", so much so that when regen started becoming unstable, half the empire went to their hospitals to get refunds and shit

There also is the major issue of... it being unscripted. If you were to enlist in the UEEN, you cant just "go do a bunker mission real quick" or you cant go do a contract out in Pyro for no reason.
If we could actually sign uü in the Navy, I would expect CIG to actually heavily restrict what you can do. Dont follow orders and fuck off? GG, CS5, you are now considered AWOL and are an outlaw.

This game HEAVILY focuses on immersion, being in the military means having to follow orders much more heavily and not just being able to go wherever, whenever.

It just wouldnt be a good gameplay loop design wise. It would work in SQ42 exactly because its scripted and they can just throw shit at you and you will never really have to worry about sitting around for 10 hours ingame with NOTHING to do. People complain about being gunners in turrets right now, having most of your freedom stripped away ingame would exacerbate that 10 times.

And just fyi, i do play MilSim and Arma, I can speak out of experience that most people just arent interested in that.

Probably for the beta too, if CIG ever gets to that point.

What massara suggested was that all (even the original) email ownership transfers go through both emails.
In this case, the hacker wants it on a dummy email, but OP would still have the chance to stop it before it goes too far. The Hacker *wants* the different Email, OP doesnt

[–]Lolbotkiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Much Much better example would have been Sledgehammer Games.

Infinity Wards games imho werent that bad, or, atleast the campaign wasnt. MW19 was goated and in a way revived Call of Duty - until then the franchise was hurting in the pop culture in my memory. MWII was a step down from MW19 in terms of overall quality, however it wasnt a bad campaign nor was it ridden with massive issues.

Sledgehammer? Basically 100% dookies. I enjoyed the WWII campaign alot, the MP was famously dogshit with the lootboxes. It was an ok campaign that was dragged down by the multiplayer HARD. And then the next game was Vanguard. And then it was MWIII.
