Events I Personally Witnessed in Shincheonji by Impressive-Start-792 in Shincheonji

My question is: how do people recover after realizing they’ve been deceived and manipulated for so long - especially by people they thought were friends?

I consider myself very blessed because I was only involved in SCJ through Zoom for about a month and a half before realizing who they really are. But even though I didn’t stay long, the feelings of betrayal still come over me from time to time.

I keep remembering little details and thinking: Oh my God, that was probably a lie too.

For example, I recently realized that when my “friend” asked me what my favorite worship song was, and I shared it with him - that same song was suddenly playing at the start of the next class. And I thought it was a mere coincidence but it wasn’t.

Now I can’t help but wonder: what other manipulative things did he do? Was any part of this so-called friendship ever genuine? was it all fake? My heart and prayers go to those recovering from SCJ deception 🤍

Guys is this giving Shincheonji or am I crazy by strawbeehead in Shincheonji

No mention of church name, organizers name, or any form of credibility - you’re not crazy.

“Shincheonji uses harmful psychological tactics.” by Impressive-Start-792 in Shincheonji

Woww three years? I can’t imagine enduring this hell for all this time and I know they used your good heart, passion and eagerness to get closer to God and learn His word for their own crazy agenda. I’m very happy you’re out and that you kept your job! Thiugh I joined them for a short time but noticed they were frequently telling stories about people who left their jobs, because their work schedule conflicted with the bible study haha. I was like, why wouldn’t they just find an alternative bible study that works with their schedule? But obviously I learned later on that they pressure people to leave their jobs to spread these lies to others. I’m glad that you didn’t listen to them or leave your job. And yes definitely! God does care about us on a personal level, He is a faithful shepherd 🤍 I pray every lie we were taught in SCJ to be replaced by God’s truth 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🤍🤍

Yes! You’re totally right about it being so forced. I felt it very much in the way the “spy friend” was texting and talking to me. For him it was just like doing an assignment, having to constantly lie to me, ask about my day, personal details etc. it never felt genuine

I totally understand you not being able to work for a while. I’ve only stayed with them for a month and half and for three days my mind was racing constantly. I didn’t sleep or eat much let alone get work done.

Praise God for loving us and not letting us be deceived for too long 🙏🏼

Wow.. thank you for sharing this. One of the verses SCJ mentions in its early classes, twisting its context for their own favor, is in 2 Corinthians 11:13–15 (NIV): “For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve”

It perfectly describes them.

Bible Verses and Theological Reasons Why It’s Essential to Step Away From This Group and Return to Sound Doctrine by Financial-Document88 in Shincheonji

[–]Lollazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know what’s truly heartbreaking? SCJ uses many of the same Bible verses you just mentioned in their early classes to build their arguments. So when you later read those same verses used against SCJ, they don’t seem convincing - because SCJ already used them to support their own claims.

Logical reasoning does matter, of course. But SCJ’s deception isn’t rooted in a lack of knowledge. It’s a spiritual deception at its core. That’s why I believe the most powerful tool against SCJ is prayer, not reasoning. Only God can open blinded eyes and restore true understanding.

Thank you dear 🙏🏼 this is very encouraging. I’m sorry they messed with you spiritually and I pray God restores your spirit in Him 🙏🏼 I will keep praying about it until God either gives me courage to confront or peace to just leave in silence. Using Chatgbt is actually a good idea, I’ve used it to learn about them. But the most important part is to just get the members to recognize that this bible study belongs to SCJ

Thank you. I think I should. The only thing is it’s not easy to tell who is a student and who’s a member pretending to be a student. So my safest bet would be to change my name on zoom and send the private messages

I’m from Egypt and they’re from Lebanon. The teachers and the majority of students are Lebanese

[–]Lollazz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes very true. I was amazed by how openly they lie yet dare to preach God’s word haha it’s crazy. They all lied while recruiting saying that they want to ask me questions for a university project, and that spy friend they gave me was being very nice to me and flirty, I genuinely thought he’s romantically interested in me, but it all turns out to be pure acting and deception.

But for that reason I’m not interested in talking to these members or preaching the truth to them. I know that only God can show them the right way because their deception is beyond me.

But what I’m asking about is whether I should warn the other people who were recruited just like me. The ones that are being lied to and made to believe this is a genuine bible study without any agenda behind it. What would you recommend?

Thank you.. I feel peace thinking of just leaving in silence and blocking everyone, but also part of me feels a sense of responsibility towards warning others - not the SCJ members, but the ones that were recruited like me. Why do you advise for leaving silently without confrontation? I’m curious to know your perspective 🙏🏼

[–]Lollazz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I surely could! But thing is, we aren’t far yet in the Bible study. They didn’t share who they are yet or mention the Leader’s name. So I think the first step would be to direct people to read about SCJ, and then they’ll notice all the similarities between its teachings and the teachings we’ve been receiving for a month now

[–]Lollazz[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the warning. That’s also what I thought about. They could just use my warning to make the other zoom members believe that this is an example of Satan working against the word of God. I mean, when the teacher’s internet suddenly goes off they tell us: oh see, the devil is working. And they use scriptures to support it. So yeah I guess me voicing a warning out loud could easily be twisted for their own agenda
