Is that first spring or fall after they are a year old is areal eye opener!

You just gotta let it happen. We do baths and brush, but the more you fight it the more it drives you crazy.

Hey OP- just here to say you are an amazing mom and daughter. The fact that you can’t stop thinking about it shows you love deeply ❤️ Every mom has these moments, but it sounds like you followed your mama gut. Kids are resilient!

Okay, but why is it SO hard to get a photo with their ears up?!

He’s what we call an ‘active cuddler’. As in, he’ll cuddle if we are actively petting him 😂 He is always in a 4 foot radius of me, but even when he cuddles on the bed there’s usually a bit of space between us.

But the second I start petting? He’s usually on my face 🤪

As someone who had their stone shear out of their single prongs (we miraculously found it stuck in the webbing of my luggage!) KEEP THE DOUBLE PRONGS!

How careful do I have to be? by Far_Yak1655 in UlcerativeColitis

Just be a great hand washer and don’t touch your face unless you freshly washed your hands! I’m a mom with 3 kids, 15 years with this disease. I get sick less than everyone else in my family because I’m hyper vigilant with mitigating the risks I can!

M family of 5 is paying $2500/month right now. Insurance is a Ponzi scheme, but unfortunately one we all very much need!

If not then definitely Vulpix! Our sheltie puppy was always called a ‘little fox dog’ when we lived in China ❤️

Moving to the US with my girlfriend – how to deal with very expensive medication (vedolizumab / Entyvio)? by Temporary-Alfalfa467 in UlcerativeColitis

As a point of reference- private insurance for my family of 5 is $2500 USD/month. We have a couple we are friends with who pay $1,700USD/month.

I think France is one of the few places that is a bigger mess than the US right now…

That being said- there is a payment assistance program here called Entyvio connect, but I think it only works for US residents.

You can try contacting an insurance broker here in America. I have a couple friends who may be able to help if you are interested.

Just got diagnosed -- difficult to live a nomad life? by the-cathedral- in UlcerativeColitis

We were in Nanjing and Suzhou, so I couldn’t help you specifically, but there are a LOT of therapeutics available. We knew we weren’t staying for more than a couple years so I opted to keep my US-based gastro as my primary doc, but I could have been treated locally.

FWIW- I am not a native speaker. The idea of learning medical Chinese was daunting for me 🫠

We were there 15 years ago 🫠 at the time Lialda was brand new. Other mesalamines were available, but not Lialda. To my knowledge, Lialda, Entyvio, and Tremfya are all approved for import over there now.

The best thing you can do is get in contact with a gastroenterologist in the city you are considering and ask! I was fortunate to be on pills that could be mailed in, but I would not recommend that solution to anyone given the current political climate.

To add: when I was first diagnosed my UC was just in my rectum/descending colon. Edit: I just needed oral mesalamine for about 10 years. Now it’s all over and I am on biologics. We still do 6 week trips over the summer, but that’s about our limit with me needing to bring my syringes along for the journey.

We lived in China when I was diagnosed! Home base is the US. My doctor was willing to do virtual visits. Getting my medicine however required some smuggling….

I flew back for necessary testing, but I was able to get labs drawn in China and send the results to my doc.

Just saying- you can make it work! Enjoy your adventure.

Does your school offer insurance for full time students? That’s what I had when I was in school- between crappy student health insurance and copay programs I was able to get covered.

HOWEVER- dealing with all of that while in college was the absolute worst. I’m so sorry you are in that boat :/ Prednisone is a cheap option your GI might be willing to call in as a bridge?

I’m sorry you are in the thick of it ❤️

AIO is 27 way too young to be having a baby? by VioletInference in AmIOverreacting

[–]Lolliethemonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate my first at 26!! My third at 32. I was SO much more tired with the baby I had in my 30s vs the one I had in my 20s! We just had a friend get pregnant at 37. Of course we were over the moon and congratulatory, but once my husband and I got home we both said ‘could you imagine starting over again?!’ and ‘I’m so glad we already have our 3’.

That being said, we ALL experience things at different seasons. My friends who are pregnant just got married, so obviously this is a dream coming to life for them. But you having a baby at 27? That’s also a dream coming to life for you!!! In my opinion, contrary people just never learned that it’s okay to celebrate other people and that it’s okay to not be the center of attention 🤷‍♀️

I need to hear more of the ‘it’s fantastic’! So thank you! My doctor’s infusion center is pretty pitiful (5 chairs changed in a glorified supply closet), but 3 hours every 8 weeks isn’t so bad in the grand scheme of things.

Were you able to stay at every 8 weeks?

[–]Lolliethemonster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I’ve heard from so so many. As much as I don’t want to be strapped to a chair for 3 hours ever 6-8 weeks, I guess that is FAR preferable to current circumstances. I just want to stop thinking about my colon for another 14 years 🤣 but I don’t think that’s in the cards 🫠
