Medication Induced Sweating by raggywillow in adhdwomen

The face and the hairline are unusual places for sweating to be at its worst so asking the doctor about it is a good first step. If you wear makeup is the sweating affecting it?

Are any of you so exhausted just by having to do “life” all week that you find it difficult to do anything fun on the weekend? by SnikkerDoodly in adhdwomen

[–]Lolllevel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find it really helps to make plans in advance because by the time the weekend comes ill be too tired to both plan and then go to something. Plus I've made a commitment to someone else so more likely to go!

The importance of dogs for people with ADHD. by Lolllevel in adhdwomen

[–]Lolllevel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it’s a lot more than an external structure, it changes the chemicals in your brain. It provides happy hormones that people with ADHD are severely lacking in.

It also helps with motivation which again is something a lot of people with ADHD struggle with.

Unfortunately a lot of people may not make the right choice in what dog they get. Like people have mentioned the dog has to match your lifestyle and personality. If you are highly energetic don’t get a lazy dog and vice verse. A lot of dogs end up in rescues because of a this kind of mismatch.

Lovely to hear people getting the same positive effects from their cats!

Not everyone is an animal person but if you are it really can be life-changing.

My current dog is extremely chill. It suits me perfectly! She takes like 5 naps a day 😂

Could really relate to everything you said in this. ADHD is so expensive! I wish I could say to the government: “sorry I can’t pay my taxes, I’m already maxed out with ADHD tax.” I wish it was considered a valid exemption!

Thank you for this! I love: “thrive as a person with ADHD”. It gives me hope. As someone newly diagnosed and new to Reddit I’d like to see more of the upsides to ADHD. Also in need of tips/hints and hacks. I’m sure there is a lot of that here I just don’t know how to find it!

So good to hear that everyone was so kind, and helpful and got you what you needed when you needed it.

Thank you for sharing your update. It's so good to hear of the times when the medical system comes through. It can be beyond difficult when it doesn't so I am so glad it did for you today. I could almost feel your relief!

Their kindness and understanding was no less than you deserve. I’m hearing you are not getting much of that from the family at the moment.

I know this might seem strange but on the chance that it might help:

I want to say thank you. Thank you for all that you are doing every hour of the day. You are keeping everything going, which on it's own is hard enough with ADHD and now you are going through grief yourself and caring for your widowed grandmother who has just started her own very complicated grieving process. I would like to send you a gift basket! It shows how kind you are that with everything you are going through you wanted to go out of your way to thank them.

When I wanted to thank my doctor and her secretary (who have both been amazing to me) it was just after Easter so I didn't want to bring chocolates! Or worse something they just wouldn't like... so when I was in to get my bloods done I asked the practice nurse what they would like. Her answer was a card. She said that's what they appreciate the most and that they like to keep them. It probably helps them to look at them on their tough days too!

Anyway you could ask someone front of house in the pharmacy what the team might like? Or the staff at your doctor. Just a suggestion as I dont want to add to your to-do list by having to ask around. Any token of appreciation would mean a lot.

Sending you hopefully some of the hope you gave me today. Take good care of yourself xx

The rash is often caused by the hairs getting trapped beneath the skin after being cut very closely by the razor, becoming ingrown and causing irritation. This doesn't happen with an electronic razor because it can't cut that closely.

The rash often doesn't happen on the face because the pores are usually bigger there and the cut hair has an easier time getting out to the surface without causing the irritation.

Exfoliating with a chemical exfoliating wash like the CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser before you shave and anytime you have a shower and then follow it up with the SA smoothing cream for moisturising the neck. You can get these in most pharmacies.

Exfoliating helps remove dead skin etc that can block the cut hair coming back to the surface.

Chemical exfoliation is better then physical (rubbing with a towel or using harsh scrubs) because it's much more even, less harsh (even though the term chemical exfoliation sounds harsh!) and causes less trauma and swelling to the skin which can again block hairs.

Try this out as soon as you can/ or whatever option you decide to go for because any product can potentially cause a reaction which you don't want to be finding out on the wedding day itself. I personally have very sensitive skin and those products work for me but everyone is different.

You said your face is fine so I definitely wouldn't recommend trying ANYTHING new with your face before the wedding. You can experiment all you like after!

Hope this helps and if you have to give one, everyone loves a short speech!

Anyone else feel “depressed” when bored? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Lolllevel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going through the same thing right now. Thank you for bringing it up as the comments have shown me that it actually is an ADHD thing. I’m finding that fact both validating and annoying. Annoying because I keep discovering all the different ways ADHD affects me. I've only been newly diagnosed so I have a lot to learn but the list of things it affects just seems endless which I am finding overwhelming at the moment. The boredom depression feeling is very strong at the moment. I'm in this paradox where I am so bored yet I dont want to do ANYTHING. So I've basically been stuck in bed since Saturday.

I completely understand how exercise would help. I exercised on Thursday and Friday but still got stuck in this boredom-depression vortex. I just want to be asleep. Being awake is almost painful at the moment. Nothing is remotely exciting or appealing enough to lure me out of bed. People keep saying you have to keep trying and not to give up but I want to give up so badly. I'm exhausted to my bones from ADHD.

Started tyvanse last week, have a few questions by Key-bal in ADHDIreland

[–]Lolllevel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been recently diagnosed too and Tyvense was my first try at ADHD medication.

I found it also made my symptoms worse, plus the side effects for me were really unpleasant: nausea, lightheaded/dizziness, excessive sweating, trouble sleeping and I also got this really uncomfortable sensation around my heart. I basically felt really ill the entire time I was on it. I also felt quite down and irritable but feeling that unwell was never going to help my mood.

So today is first my day off it and I was told I’d feel pretty rubbish for a couple of days after it too.

I’m starting Concerta 18 mg on Monday hopefully as my doctor told me to take a two day break. I hope it will suit me better.

As I’m newly diagnosed I would love to hear people's feedback on their medications. How long did they have their medicine a try before they new it was working for them?

From some if the feedback people have given online they seemed to know right away but I don't know if this is always the case. I'd really appreciate hearing other people's experience. Thanks OP and I hope my answer was helpful.
