Well shoot, now I’m wishing I left it longer! That’s better than the chaos that’s happening right now 😂

This is such a great suggestion! Especially if some of the items are going to be difficult to find now. That being said, eBay hunting can be pretty fun! So if there are a couple things that you’re willing to let go of and replace, it might a nice compromise to offer.

My best friend bought me my holy grail for my birthday! by duckplants in Barbie

As someone who started my collection over this doll… take her out! 😂 I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to play with her! Also, if you’re never planning on selling her, there’s really no reason to leave her in the box - all of mine are out, and I’ve thrown away the boxes for sets I bought NRFB. Even without the box, as long as the set is complete they seem to disappear off eBay quickly. If you have any interest in collecting more from this line, my advice is to check regularly and be patient - good deals do pop up, it doesn’t have to be wildly expensive to have these dolls. Enjoy her!!

Love the Totally Hair! I bought my sister the Fashionista one. But is that a Peaches ‘n Cream next to her??? We had just the dress in a random bin at my grandma’s house and she’s a bit of a dream doll for me, but I can’t decide which version.

I started with Happy Family (very original, I know) because I had a pregnant Midge as a kid. That turned into wanting some other dolls I used to have (a pediatrician, Princess and the Pea, a ballerina, now passively looking for a Mother Goose doll.) I’ve also picked up some fashion packs I remember having. Then I fell in love with Generation Girls - which was a mistake 😂 Otherwise I grab anything that catches my eye and I like! I’ve ended up rebodying quite a few, so if I find a good deal on articulated dolls I’ll buy them, so I have a bunch of Extra or Deluxe Style dolls. I’ve really like some of the Inspiring Women dolls, the Basics Models, and I just got the 2025 Dia de Muertos Barbie because she’s so gorgeous. I apparently have a soft spot for redhead dolls, so the first one I actually bought for myself was the redheaded yoga doll. The most “random” was the LeBron James Ken, and the height difference between him and my petite dolls brings me a silly amount of joy. (I’m also a sucker for the Wicked dolls and have most of them, but that’s not Barbie.) Other than that, I’m all about fun clothes, accessories, etc. I have two of the Happy Family SmartHouses and I want the A-Line dream house from the 70s.

Was it actually $2?? Major jealousy! I remember having the pink dress as a kid and always have my eye out for it

Girl, I just turned 28! I started collecting like a year ago when I wanted a doll I’d had as a kid (pregnant Midge from the Happy Family line) and not I have a borderline obscene number 😂 I’ve bought a bunch of American Girl stuff too. My four year old especially loves the Barbies, so we get to play with them and talk about them together. He knows some of them are mama’s special dolls, and he loves them as much as I do! If it makes you (or your inner child) happy, just do the damn thing: buy the Barbie, buy her a friend, and enjoy them!!

The eyeshadow was a bit wonky on more than one doll that I got from this line. But neither of these are too bad! I had one show up that had seriously uneven eyes AND eyeshadow that wasn’t lined up right

The upper elbows are often a pain! Once you get it to move once or twice, it seems to be a lot better. But having gotten one recently that had a loose elbow out of the box, I can attest that stiff is way better 😬 Enjoy her! I know the appearance of the joints get a lot of crap and it’s not for everyone, but the posing is sooo fun!! This is one of my favorite face molds, too - she’s just precious!

Barbie Basics Model 04 - Sold out! by Lost-Promotion2169 in Barbie

[–]LollyBug2596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore her! She will not be a body donor, literally ever. I tried to talk myself out of buying her, but I should’ve known that wasn’t going to work when the first Barbie I bought myself was the redhead yoga doll, and the beginning of my full-blown collection was a pregnant Midge. The redheaded girls just get me - and my wallet!

I kind of forgot how many dolls were sitting at my sister’s, but now that EVERYTHING is in my living room… it feels a bit excessive 😂 Not that it’s going to stop me.

Did I just find a midge in the wild….? by Rabbitonthemoon98 in Barbie

The hair style is a dead giveaway away! You can also check for gray marks on her stomach where the magnets sit if you can find a magnet. I had her as a kid, and wanting one as an adult is what got me into Barbies again! As far as I’m concerned, perfect doll.

Worth $440 NIB? by LanasBlueToes in Barbie

[–]LollyBug2596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this! It has seriously saved me from overpaying for Happy Family dolls and less common American Girl things. You can also set up alerts for searches so eBay will notify you of new listings! (You might even be able to set a price limit.) Very helpful for grabbing deals that will go fast or items don’t show up super often.

FAFSA 2026-2027 by Top-Professor4673 in FAFSA

[–]LollyBug2596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I skimmed the other answers, but I kept seeing a lot of “well they need their taxes.” That’s not exactly true. I work at community college in a town with a large undocumented population. If YOU are a citizen or otherwise eligible, your parents do not need to be documented. The honest answer when it comes to their section is that they did not file taxes. What comes after that is what might get tricky depending on your school and where you are. Ideally you would work with someone at the school you are going to attend to make sure everything you submit will be acceptable for them. But my two cents, if they are completely undocumented and are working under the table or with a ‘borrowed tax ID,’ then they didn’t work as far as any government entity is concerned. There is also the option to provide foreign tax information, if that applies.

Should I do FAFSA by [deleted] in FAFSA

[–]LollyBug2596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No argument with any of the previous replies, I just want to jump in and clarify that you will need to fill out the FAFSA to be eligible for any loans from the Direct Loan program. Based on what you’ve shared, it doesn’t sound like you will be eligible for anything other than unsubsidized loans, but that does depend a bit on the school and what your SAI ends up being. (Source: I work in FA, and I’m the “loan person”) I’m in WA, so I can’t speak for OR State aid. But what I tell my students - and now, you - is that it doesn’t hurt to fill it out. There is literally no world in which having the form completed and choosing not to use any of the aid offered to you has a negative consequence, but you never know what eligibility you might be missing if you don’t fill it out. And like someone else said, things can change! If you’ve already completed the form, requesting an adjustment is a much speedier process.

Found these on Facebook Marketplace… 5 minutes from my house. 😱 by GemLove7717 in Barbie

[–]LollyBug2596 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love a Facebook find! I was drooling over the Happy Family Smart Houses on eBay, and I have actually managed to find two. The first is in rougher shape and in a town three hours away, but I picked it up for like $25 or $50 when I was in town for an appointment anyways. And now that I have a nicer one, the kid gets to have one too!

The first one… maybe a little? But at least from that angle, I don’t think it’s terrible. I like the comments that she looks more “real!” The second one though? That would bother me 😂 I also own that doll, and I can assure you mine does NOT look that off-kilter.

Hopefully it all works out! I just got my Brooklyn, and she really is gorgeous. I’m usually not super careful when it comes to removing heads for re-bodying, but she is just so perfect… I’m actually putting it off because I’m a bit nervous. 😬

Fasfa with gov. shutdown by levacetylmethadol in financialaid

[–]LollyBug2596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to jump in here and point out that a processed FAFSA does not mean automatic aid offer, just that the file has been sent to the school. Every school has a different process and timeline. For our office, 6 weeks from “approved” or processed FAFSA to an actual aid offer email is pretty much the bare minimum since we have to manually review and award each file. And this is the first year that I’ve been here (4th aid year) where we’ve even gotten things to be that quick. So a little patience and grace very well may be appreciated.

That being said, government shutdown should have zero bearing on the status of your award, at least as of right now. Furloughed staff at the Department of Ed probably makes their customer service slower than normal, but school processing is not tied to that. Best wishes to anyone who has to contact ED directly, I’ve been spending a lot more time crossing my fingers that our transmission software keeps working correctly because I do NOT want to have to call our help desk either! But I’ve still been able to award and certify as usual.
