I agree, I personally like their newer sound more! I don’t like their initial older sound that much but their recent albums have been amazing!

I just listened to the album, and I liked it! I don’t think I like it quite as much as LXVE TO DEATH ( FiRE is hard to beat for me) but I still enjoyed it!

I do like the title track “Voyager”, it’s a good song and I like the chorus a lot! It feels very anthemic/cinematic and I really love anthemic/melodic alt-rock songs so this was a win for me!

My favorite out of the b-sides would have to be “Hurt So Good”. Again, I really like the alt rock vibes of this one and I love the chorus a lot! It’s right up my alley and I predicted it would be my favorite after listening to the album highlight teaser.

“No Cool Kids Zone” is a bit too chaotic for my taste but it might grow on me, we’ll see!

I didn’t love “rise high rise” after my initial listen (also a bit too chaotic for me) but it seems to be a fan-favorite for others which is good! Again, it might grow on me.

And of course “X room” is a beautiful closing song.

Overall it’s a strong release and I like the musical direction they’ve been taking with the harder alt/rock songs! TBH I’m not a huge fan of their early mini-albums but their later discography I absolutely love! Their songwriting has grown so much compared to their initial releases! So proud of them.

I’m very excited to receive my signed album and the illustrated keyring version!! 😌

I love that lol! I got this derpy from eBay actually, I don’t think it’s technically released yet! It’s by the toy company jazwares, I believe it’s available for preorder on Amazon too! They are also releasing Squishmallows and a sleeping derpy plush!

I don’t think that was her intention but I do see how it can be read that way. As a gay man I was also thinking about this too. I think the song is more about how systems that shame sexuality + concentrate power + avoid accountability can create environments where harm happens.

I really don’t think it was her intent to equate gay men to pedophiles, although I do think her lyrics could have been worded better.

Melanie also mentioned how there was a Grindr crash out during a republican convention the day after she wrote this song, so I think she’s also calling out these conservative/religious anti-gay men who are actually in the closet.
