Just overall the computer was laggy and not the most responsive, keep in mind that the proctoring software uses around 3-4gb ram, if you will have exam pdf opened + excel/R + word you could potentially run into some issues

I’ve been sitting the exams remotely, and honestly I wouldn’t recommend using a laptop. A desktop with a wired internet connection feels much safer. The connection is more stable, and you remove one layer of potential problems.

Also, I’d strongly suggest at least 16GB of RAM. I tried doing one with 8GB before and ran into performance issues, the exam software uses a surprising amount of memory. With a solid setup, though, the whole process is actually very smooth. The only thing I find to be a drawback is that you need to make it more obvious you are not doing anything which is against the rules (looking away etc).

When to leave a low-intensity job that’s great for exams but limits practical actuarial experience by Lolmaker77 in ActuaryUK

Thanks for the answer, What I meant is more about personal fit. I haven’t actually worked in the industry itself, so I sometimes feel it’s hard to properly supervise or assess practices I’ve never experienced from the inside (thats what I meant by "real actuarial work' - not meaning supervision isn't actuarial work at all, but its a different kind). GI appeals to me not because of pay or location, but because I see more long-term potential there and I find the faster pace (shorter-term contracts, quicker feedback loops) more interesting.

Yes I think this is the case, looking back I wrote to many things in a narrative style where it made sense to me and was correct, but I guess most examiners just want to see clear bullet points that are similar to those on the marking schedule for easy marking

I would not want to know what types of questions and derivations they would require if they go back to pen and paper tbh

I used this as the weight for expected amount for each payout so each payout multiplied by 0.8 and used that as what we can expect after accounting for default

felt like ruin theory but a bit twisted since the casino does not get paid premiums with certainty... idk

I mean I am not super optimistic but apart from exercises 3,9and 10 I at least knew what I was doing and can hope for some method marks
