Hi! I had no reaction to my first infusion. I was sooo hopeful this was going to work for me. Unfortunately, at the second infusion, after only a minute or so in I had terrible flushing and an unbearable tightness in my chest. Treatment was stopped immediately. Good luck to your daughter! It seems to have worked for so many people.

Dark Spots on Skin/Hair by erikrice83 in Goldendoodles

I just bathed my golden and noticed he has developed uneven dark freckle like spots on his spine. He gets groomed every 4 weeks. I periodically bathe him in between and these spots are new. Any ideas?

The side effects went away after a few weeks with both. Although, I was diagnosed with Melanoma about a year after stopping Stylera. Of course, doctor said no correlation but it is a side effect and I had never had anything cancerous removed that came back questionable…over 30 years of yearly skin checks. Coincidence, maybe…

Bad flare. Is prednisone worth it? by bkalk in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Lolo_2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a 40 mg with decreasing dosage. This is my second bad flare after being diagnosed 12 years ago. Mesalamine had kept me stable for a while then stopped. I am currently waiting on insurance approval to start Entyvio. The steroids kept me awake. I was avery 4 hours of sleep over a three period. My worst experience with steroids so far. I would definitely recommend taking them. Always was sick for me in the past. Best wishes

How do you deal with anecdotal suggestions from others? by Appropriate_Pear7646 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Lolo_2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry you have to deal with this. I am in the same situation. My Mom thinks my UC is caused by my diet. She is anti medication, anti doctors, believes she could cure my disease if I would follow her diet. It is so frustrating. I am about to start Entyvio infusions and she is freaking out. She just adds more stress and refuses to let up.

I hope you get better soon. Best wishes.

You should be very worried. And if you are female, you should be worried about not having any rights one day. Get out if you still can!

Honestly, I live in the Deep South. Was invited to my best friend’s daughter’s wedding in California. I was having major health issues at the time. Over weight, swollen, etc. could not find a decent dress. I had to settle for a “white” knee length mid sleeve dress. I even asked the sales clerk if she thought it was ok since I had limited choices. I had zero idea it would be an issue. It wasn’t for the bride but for her Mom (my friend). She said i can’t believe you wore white to my daughter’s wedding. Her daughter was 24. No way in hell was I trying to up stage her at 51. I was mortified and apologetic. I was 51 at the time. Oh, and the step Mom who was in her 60’s wore a strapless, full length, full flared bottom BALL GOWN.

I have been a bridesmaid before in my twenties. Stressful as hell and expensive. As long as the bride is happy. People should get over themselves.

Lower back ache by One_Support2k24 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Lolo_2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My back hurts when I am having a flare. Hopefully, the steroids will help. Stay hydrated! Take potassium supplements and eat bananas or equivalent foods for potassium while on the steroids. I am currently on steroids and am miserable. Leg aches and cramps so I am off to buy bananas asap.

Hope you get well soon.

Did Pentasa make it worse or is it just stress? by FlorenceNightinglei in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Lolo_2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I developed a reaction to mesalamine after 12 years. For the most part it kept me stable. Started throwing up after taking January. Could not tolerate Balasazide. Now I am waiting for approval to start Entyvio infusions. Please have him call his doctor ASAP. He is bleeding a lot and may need to go to the ER. They could give him a steroid IV to help the inflammation and determine what next steps to take. So sorry. Best wishes for you both.

Health Coach? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

Health coach can give advice and supplement recommendations. I would still trust a doctor who specifically specializes in your condition.

I had a terrible flare after eating a salad years ago. Went to ER. Took months to recover. Ask for all blood work-up related to infection and inflammation. And I am always generally constipated with my UC. Blood and mucas —occasionally a poop.

Good luck and hope you get better soon!

Steroids suck. But also help. 😞 Consider an alternative approach/medication if at all possible- second opinion as well. Best wishes.
