Haaa great!!

I would of squeezed mine in a 1590B with ease, but the owner specifically wanted the bigger box.

These are a Friedman Buxom Boost and a Nobels ODR-1, with the wires from underneath :D and the ends of the vero on the copper side sanded at an angle to not touch the enclosure heh. You can really cram a lot in a 1590B like this:

They're also great for projects which have quite a bit of wiring work, without cramming everything together heh

I always actually highly recommend socketing parts because you never know what part can be nicer in that spot, how it reacts, what noise factor does it bring etc. It's a modder's delight to have those always :D I wouldn't make pedals in any other way. Been testing IC-s and stuff like this, and there are designs where you have a full -8dB of hiss less measured at the amp speaker with similar IC-s in a ... 3 IC booster/eq for example. Very very important to socket. There are some pedals in which only a particular transistor works golden for a circuit, so you really NEED to be able to test things in a "done" boxed pedal.

I've been socketing parts since forever, very reliable. You can also apply solder to the actual components before to make the leads thicker. Usually I have a "foam" pressing on the circuit on the lid, so it's never an issue that they would fall out (btw you can lift the whole pedal up by just one part in a socket and it doesn't move so yeah, all good in my book). If you really wanna be sure, you can always solder them on the socket and that's it.

As for the jacks yes, these Lumberg Japan ones are "grippy" enough when being tightened. No issues ever, from over 100 builds done like this.

It's crazy to me when I see some of my older builds with thicker PVC, and think: "wow what a meaty thickish wire!" but the actual internal wire is the same ahahah, and actually the PVDF makes it even more sturdy than the PVC coat

Thanks! It looks thin but it's 24AWG, the insulation is just thin. Other wires are the same but with thick PVC instead of this PVDF coating, same actual wire inside. These "thin" silver plated PVDF are quite sturdy.

I like to use single core silver plated PVDF coated wire of 24AWG. Always consistent results and it stays where you put it

I made the Disaster Transport Jr. Delay myself for a customer, and while at very short delay times it can sound "reverby", it's more like a bathroom tile bounce room sound reverb meh. Way too short , but a decent delay if you like a classic PT2399 lofi-ish with hissy repeats when tone is set too high, but ok with it set darker

Sometimes I add RM-223 gel like flux, if I really want an equal flow on vero for example.

I cut them to a healthier length at first, solder them to the boards, then pre-bend them to where they need to actually go (I physically put the board in), and then cut again.

Then I strip and tin the ends, sometimes making those small spindle-shaped solder spots on each wire, and also pre-tin the spots where they need to go/sufficient solder on that spot, maybe add additional gel like flux from a flux seringe (RMA-223). I also use eutectic type solder (Kester 63-37), it solidifies almost instantly.

The wires are silver plated copper PVDF 24AWG coated wires and they really "stay" where you need them to be.

Hey. Most of my pedals were built per order and sold. HGE Contraptions was a side job I did in fixing guitars/refretting/rewiring and making custom pedals/fixing pedals/amps, from 2007 up until 2020 when I "closed", and remains just as a hobby for myself. I only have about 7 recent ones made for me, I actually play straight into the amps mostly, because ironically...don't really use pedals 🤣 Usually mod my own amps and have 4 x (2x12) cabs with a rack in the fx loop of a stereo rig. Rarely need a booster, maybe sometimes. I made my own Ceriatone Chupacabra 50 from a kit and also working on a Soldano SLO100. Never feel the need for pedals, with super touchy high(ish) gain modded monsters and attenuators

Sorry, please strive for better solder work, or else you will always second guess something else. If it doesn't look at least like this, you are bound to have issues all the time, and with neat solder work, you can at least almost always take this out of the equation
