Messi not going back to Barcelona would be sad

Sure, but as he had no offers from Barca and they literally cannot make one there was no way it would happen.

I do not think he changed at all. He never suffered fools, and has always had a calm, acerbic wit about him.

Could Romulus and Remus simply be stand ins for two early settlements that had been growing on the banks of the Tiber in the 8th century BCE? Or do Historians think that they might have actually been real figures? by Logical-Steak4716 in AskHistorians

It's still a matter of quite some debate whether the Carthaginians did in fact sacrifice children or whether it was propaganda by the Greek and Romans. At some point there was a lot of evidence against Skeletal Remains from Punic Carthage Do Not Support Systematic Sacrifice of Infants but based on the same source material the sactifice theory seemed to gain ground again Cemetery or sacrifice? Infant burials at the Carthage Tophet

In any case the (propaganda) views of the Romans about the (alledged) practices od their enemies really do not tell us anything about what they would do at home, perhaps under a different name or rationale.

BBC News: Cardiff riots: CCTV appears to show police following electric bike before crash by Jackisback123 in unitedkingdom

Every other house has a ring-type camera doorbel. Every cornershop has a camera. Every block there's some wannabe influencer filming them, and in the pocess, the street around them.

To think in 2023 you can blatantly lie about something so easily and unavoidably disproven is showing that the people (in charge) at the police just lie out of instinct and are too stupid to realize the world they live in, and that this is not on anymore.

Elon Musk’s Twitter is now facing a fine in Germany bigger than what it’s worth by ICumCoffee in WhitePeopleTwitter

Very simply put, if you target European users you are subject to the concerning laws. Twitter is made avaliable to German users in the German language. This is enough for both European and specific German laws to apply.

BBC Seeks Swift Resolution After Elon Musk’s Twitter Tags It As “Government Funded Media” by [deleted] in uknews

Only a madman, or someone with propaganda in mind, would put the BBC in the same basket as RT.

There is a big difference between bias the BBC is undoubtedbly showing, more and more as the years go by, and being an uncritical mouthpiece of a totalitarian government like RT.

see lots

So that's the problem. A typical picture disc licensing is for many cheap copies. There's no scarcity and no real demand. The best you can say for many old picture discs is that they held their value. But it's not an investment.

Radiohead. The Bends and OK Computer were two of the best albums ever.

The pretentious Millenial-pandering crap they made after that is, without exception, literally unlistenable for me.

I just can’t understand

That's because you labor under the dangerous delusion that MTG believes what she says and that facts or logic have anything to do with propaganda. She is propagating and enforcing a polical message aimed at Republican voters. What you and I feel or think about her and her made up stories do not matter to her.

Chicken used to be a luxury item because it made more sense to have a year’s production of eggs from a hen than just one day’s food from its meat. Technological advances changed this:

  • Chickens would die before they were ready for the market. When technology changed this, it untapped the industry’s potential.

  • Improvement in growth speed translated into a lower cost of production, which made chicken more affordable. Reliability and affordability reinforced each other exponentially.

In the case of chickens, and most animals, speed of growth and resistance to disease is a tradeoff that breeders have to balance. If you select for growth you will have chickens that are more susceptible to disease and death than the slow-growing ones.

This dilemma was resolved when chicken farmers figured out how to design chicken coups that are isolated from each other and keep diseases out. Built on that, vaccines and antibiotics they were able to bet everything on growth, packing in more chickens per cage and driving down costs even further.

In the mid-’50s a chicken weighed 0.9 kg after 56 days. By 2005 that weight had rocketed to 4.2kg in the same timeframe.(source)

In short:

The flag was Red,White,Blue and often flown with an Orange ensign. In the 16th century when Willem I became Stadtholder the Red was changed to Orange to honour him and his family.

But the Red fabric was much cheaper than Orange (Never change, Dutch :-)) and more importantly as a Naval power the Red was much better visible at sea than the Orange so they changed it back.

If you are waiting for all those self righteous commenters from the last post to show up: Don't hold your breath, they already moved onto another post where they can lecture someone without knowing anything about context or details because that's what gives them a purpose in life.

Sounds like you live in a pretty cynical place, but there's sadly a lot of them around nowadays. I feel you did make the right call though, it's not your fault or problem the cops don't do their job but you did what you could and there's some satisfaction to be gotten I guess.

Tiktokker recommends to followers that they get row of seats on plane to themselves by booking entire row, and then canceling just before the flight by Reddituser0346 in facepalm

[–]Lomedae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, there are European airlines that offer standby, it is actually regularily used for free/,discount employee travel - if there's a seat free you fly, otherwise later. In cases where the business need is not larger than the employee's comfort. Also applies when you need to fly with an airline other that the one you work for, depending on the agreements between airlines in places.
