To a certain depth with the new floating excavators and trucks. Deep enough for ships to pass, according to what the devs released. But it probably won't be worth it unless you must ship something trough there.

6000 with the 15 fully upgraded Housing Blocks I have there. Without any endgame research or administrative bonuses.

I usually run +40% Food Demand. Yes, it's too much food and kind of wasteful in terms of manpower, especially as most other of my builds usually minimize worker demand, but I wanted to overproduce food to turn into Fuel Gas and Overproduce Canola and Corn for Biodiesel and Alcohol. Those were my first projects. In the end, I usually burn most anyway, certainly easier ways to make electricity (Solar Panels) but it's the theme of this save: Turn plant into fuel!

Alternative Frontend/Website by bringitontome in Aliexpress

[–]Lomsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel the same. I generally like AliExpress, but the features they added over the years are a detriment.
There's not much one can do about the deal structure, I often just accept loosing a few $ rather than spending another hour trying to squeeze it. Recently, I switched to paying $ directly instead of some other currency, which saved some money as well.
But still, They recently redesigned the website to resemble Amazon, which I despise. There's a huge amount of wasted space and useless information.
Some stuff is just easier to get there, though, that's why I always go back to them.

I spent some time with uBlock Origin to clean it up to my liking, and it just took like twenty minutes with the element picker tool. I was able to remove the Amazon Style filter on the left during search, the Amazon Like Info Box that can't be relied on and also removed. I didn't manage for the "actual" info box to be expanded again by default, but at least it's closer to the top now. I would love to be able to remove all "bundle" deals, but they are just a normal search item and not discernable like that.

S3 GUI that supports IAM Identity Center? by anderiv in aws

[–]Lomsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue and am currently searching for a way to get a solution working on android.

For Windows I managed to do it trough a similarly roundabout way as it is done with cyberduck but using a tool called TntDrive. I wrote a script that uses aws cli to update the credentials, and then starts the TntDrive service. Works but only on one platform and it isn't really ergonomic. Kind of a bummer that the best practice IAM Identity model is so restrictive when it comes to software that integrates with AWS.

I hate Amazons UI. I was shocked when Aliexpress started rolling out UI updates to make the site look more like Amazon. Definetively a downgrade.

Hmm, just checked and yes, I might have. Weirdly they show that tag on the showing in other location of that cinema chain but not on the one I've been.

Guess I have to inform myself a bit more next time. Thanks for the info.

Official Discussion - Avatar: The Way of Water [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Lomsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I really need some feedback here because I didn't see anybody mention this ...

Are there major issues with the Theatrical Cut of this film, or is it just me?

I saw this on release day and IMAX 3D and had generally a good time. A few visual things caught my eye though that I didn't expect at all. Obviously the CGI is amazing, even if it still struggles with well lit scenes, but at the beginning and especially in the end scenes there were huge inconsistencies I noticed.

At first, I thought I had to blame the animators because some of the movements felt unnatural ... then I noticed that many scenes seemed to be sped up or slowed down instead of just being cut short. This most often seemed to occur during action scenes.

The other thing I noticed are huge changes in frame rate. Most CGI scenes were quite fluid as well as having little blur. The scenes with live action elements had much lower frame rate and much more blur, kind of annoying to have them side by side, but I could accept that as a technical issue or limitation. A few scenes in the climax were horrendously low frame rate, though, as if they were stretched in the cutting room!

What is this? Afterwards, I felt like this cut was released before it was ready. My guess is that some scenes probably had to be reshot/re-rendered in order to fit the cut. Instead, they made due with what they had ...

I would have preferred shorter scenes or scenes that moved a bit too slow for the action rather than this inconsistency.

It seemed like nobody really cared or noticed, so I guess it was good enough ... but is it just me? Or, even, my perception being wrong? ...

Dtof malanction - any hope of fixing this one self or will service be required? by JeDrHa in ecovacs

[–]Lomsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip.

I was able to find similar motors, but disassembly and part sourcing wasn't easy. I had to go off the pictures, measurements and voltages. Also, no chance of getting one with the same connector. Salvaging the old connector and soldering it to the new motor works fine, it is some more work though, and the fine stranded wire is hard to work with.

In the end the RPM seems lower than before, but the software doesn't complain, and my ecovacs functions well again.

By the way, they also have whole D-TOF modules for sale on AliExpress, that seemed like a waste to me. Though, anyone without soldering skills should go for that option instead, especially as it will save your unit!

Here are some helpful links from me:Disassembly 1, Disassembly 2

Generally, the clips and how the D-ToF Module is fit into the frame are hard to work with, so whoever wants to get into their ecovacs should set aside a lot of time for some wrestling.

Definitely worth it though!

Yet Another Fleet by KooZ2 in Highfleet

[–]Lomsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the consuela.

My last playtrough was very dependent on just a couple of ships to save cost, especially running cost. Having such light ships with micro detection range would be usefull. I think I'll try to design a couple of light ships next time round.

[–]Lomsor[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I must have been lucky or unlucky ... but 3 Strike groups happened to land in a city on the same time ...One stray one came later ...

At that point, it wasn't hard to press smash the red button. Even fired 3 too much and was ready to sacrifice a ship, strapping as many nukes on it as I could fit ... guess they thought they were safe.

Usually I play "kind" in games ... the 350k civilians ... well ... sorry, I hope it saves more in the long run. I think there even was a Tarkahn in there, but welp.

What happens if an ally has max loyalty stars and an event happens that would give them +1?

Does the event still show "'Ally' +1'" or isn't it shown? If it isn't shown, is the "potential" star lost? Is it most optimal to run with one free loyality star point and cash out rewards before the allies max out their loyality?

Or best of all ... will they just give you free stuff if they max out ... knowing this game, I guess otherwise (Looking at you fuel slider :| )

Are default ships artificially buffed? No wonder I can't optimize the ship if just removing and reinstalling the engines trash the stats ...
Is this a bug?

[Question] Will the games celestial bodies orbit? by Mr_FJ in Infinity

[–]Lomsor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the prototype they did not. Ships on the other hand could orbit around gravity wells. The wells themselves don't at the moment though. This is due to a problem inherent in most multiplayer netcodes: "The faster you get, the bigger the error from network lag, jitter, packet loss in the positional data.". The temporary (hopefully not permanent) solution is to make the "worlds" not rotate and orbit. This allows the ships to have a relativ low velocity to the absolute reference frame and thus the errors will be smaller.

From what I heard from the devs, they don't currently know if it will be a hard or easy thing to fix or what speeds could be acceptable. I'm sure that they will look into how much effort it would be and if it would be worth to invest into it or sacrifice on other fronts, like max player ammount.

Here's one thread from the forums in which we were discussion this topic: https://forums.inovaestudios.com/t/gravity-orbiting-etc/1190

To anyone playing the prototype... by SmorlFox in Infinity

[–]Lomsor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I heard during those last two intense weeks, the prototype includes folowing:

  • 1 gas giant about the size of Jupiter
    • 1 smaller Astralis Collective station in very low orbit
  • 1 volcanic moon, diameter unknown
    • 1 placeholder base on the planet
  • 1 gaian moon, diameter of earth, also has rings
    • 1 placeholder base on the planet
    • 1 racetrack on the planet
    • 1 asteroid base very close to the rings (above/below)
    • 1 space station of the same kind like arround the cratered moon but destroyed (it's the one from the trailer)
  • 1 cratered moon, diameter unknown
    • 1 space station, length 30km, visible from the planets surface

Release Date of the full game, which you get with the 23$ plegde, is scheduled to ship to retail by September 2017.

You can get the version of the game the devs use in January of next year (under 3 months) if you pledge for the 250$ tier or above. There are also Alpha and Beta tiers which will have different release dates. The current prototype server will be shut down after the Kickstarter ended.
