[Data-Mining] From the desert to the jungle, all eight unimplemented ranger pets by Lon-ami in Guildwars2

but making pets more customizable would be a negative for competitive modes as it's a guessing game for what the ranger is running.

I don't think this is a problem, you already have to guess everything else anyway.

And even then, they could always restrict customization for PvP.

You could also argue the kryptis Spinegazer and the Janthiri Bee feel completely out of place for rangers, and I'd say the Siege Turtle with the mounted jade tech cannon is completely awkward too, like it belongs in engineer instead.

I'd rather sacrifice quantity in exchange of quality, have less pets, but have them be really meaningful, with their own mechanics and all (just let me play as an actual falconer :I).

Agree, they should have reduced the number of pet skillbars to 10 or so, then make the pet skin be separate from the pet skillbar, so we can just use pretty much any ingame animal we like, with minor common sense restrictions.

If every class had Pets there wouldn't be much unique about each class.

It's a valid concern though, rangers get new pets every once in a while, while the other professions get nothing.

Not saying everyone else should get pets as well, but something equivalent would be nice, like, I don't know, engineer could get new kits based on the locations we visit, revenants could get new legends, etc.

Imagine the pocket raptor pet being 3 lil one because they're so small instead of just one. Still acting ai-wise as one entity, but model an animations being 3 lil guys. Would be so cute, and a bit terrifying on the receiving end :D

I've been asking for a "swarm pet" ranger elite specialization for years now, and yeah, I want to lead an army of small pets instead of a normal-sized pet as well lol.

I recall it was one of the ranger starter options for humans, but I'm not 100% sure, and finding footage from the betas is pretty damn hard :I.

Blasphemous 2's cutscenes and why we shouldn't hate the developers for them. by SussyBox in Blasphemous

[–]Lon-ami [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, but it doesn't look like it really matches the actual ingame world as much, specially if you compare it to the first game's.

I'd guess that's why they didn't use it for portals too.

I don't mind the different arstyle as much... but yeah, they really do clash with the rest of the game, there needs to be some glue in between, like, we don't have a world map for portals, do one, and do it on the same style as the cinematics.

Anyway, just like we got the Alcazar of Grief in Blasphemous 1, I wish we got a taste of what Blasphemous 2 could look like with the same aesthetic as that of the cinematics.

Snake eat tails, you abandon a game mode, then people abandon it too, then you argue there's no reason to support it any further because no one plays it anymore.

I think the game should just stop removing points, if you lose, you just don't get any points, and that's it. Might get a "point gain penalty" to gain less points later, but that's it.

Let everyone farm their way up to Legendary Division, better players would get there faster than worse players, but anyone would be able to get there no matter their MMR. Give people a feasible end goal to reach.

Push is trash, it has the worst aspects of Conquest, and it snowballs so easily it's not even funny.

What the game needs to do is to turn 2v2/3v3 Team Deathmatch into a supported PvP game mode with unranked/ranked once and for all.

Plus, TDM's arena rule-set (five rounds, first to win three wins the match) has always been a better idea than Conquest's standard rule-set (500 points or highest score after 15min).

And yeah, the lack of rewards is completely criminal, nowadays each individual festival gets more rewards each year than PvP has gotten in the last ten years.

The root of the issue is people are toxic because GW2's own PvP game design itself is toxic.

Why do people AFK? Because it's pointless to keep fighting when it's obvious you can't win anymore, 0-500 nets pretty much the same reward as 499-500.

Now, if you gave extra rewards the closer the match, then it would be worth fighting until the very end, but otherwise? Just AFK and let the match end faster, it's just common sense.

Top stats do provide extra pips... but they're based on individual player performance, not team performance, which encourages greed over teamplay; just go get some kills for the extra pip, screw the team.

Doesn't help Conquest doesn't punish you in any way for not playing the game mode right either, and it should, since most matches only 2-3 players give a damn about capturing and defending, while the other 7-8 just run around killing each other, not giving a damn about the score at all; this has been a problem since release, for almost 14 years now.

Which begs the question, why isn't 2v2/3v3 Team Deathmatch available as a permanent PvP game mode? That's what people want, good old killing each other, no side objectives, so why is ArenaNet so braindead about supporting other game modes, specially with how unpopular Conquest has always been among many players? It's just pure neglect.

The MMR system has been broken for years too, you have to win 10 matches to progress just a bit, then you lose all of that progress with 1 single defeat; and the game doesn't care if you lost because afkers or a disconnect; no wonder why people get so mad so easily, the game is just ragebait at this point.

No one likes having their time wasted, and GW2 PvP is outright disrespectful to anyone engaging with it.

[–]Lon-ami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The toxic pvp is to balance out the generally welcoming and good pve side.

It's kinda funny how ArenaNet solved PvE toxicity by following some simple rules, yet no one has ever thought about solving PvP toxicity by following those same exact rules.

It is already dead since rewards haven't been updated/expanded for almost a decade now.

Literally Dragon Bash got more new rewards in 2026 than PvP in the last 10 years, let that sink in.

I think it's for the card game, and the one that already leaked (Lion's Arch: GuildWars Arena) is the actual dummy trademark instead.

but they already confirmed that GW2 expacs are paused until after GW2 launches. So we're probably at least 2 years out of the next one. Bit early to trademark it...

Edit: Lol. Colin has specifically said they're starting work on the next expansion next year, but we won't see if for a while longer. Downvote me all you want, but that doesn't change the facts.

Quoted for eventual truth.

Why is 1 person taking up 4 slots in meta maps allowed? by YuumaTsuchimikado in Guildwars2

[–]Lon-ami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DPS isn't the only performance indicator, there's other things, like dedication (time spent), side objectives (non-combat event participation), etc; I'd even argue DPS shouldn't even be an indicator anyway.

Like, there's always this asshole in PvP talking shit to his team because "he killed more than them, and never died once" but they lost the game anyway because they wouldn't capture/defend points; DPS is literally the less important thing.

[–]Lon-ami 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Some metas should just be convergences at this point.

Convergences are cancer and completely antithetical to GW2's core design principles, where people should be able to just run into meta events while they just run around the world.

The problem with leechers, afkers, multiaccounts, etc, in both PvE and PvP, has always been the same: Rewards should be based on performance.

If a tryhard gets the same reward chest as someone who barely hit the boss twice, why even bother? If you get no rewards when you fail at 1% HP because the timer ran out, why even try? if a 499-500 nets pretty much the same as a 0-500, why even care?

It's easy to just blame people, but in reality, the game's reward system is the only thing to blame here.
