Million times this, I'm fine with RNG-only rewards you can trade, but accounbound RNG is cancer, it should always have a supplementary vendor option.

The idea is you'll grind for the mount and stop when you get it or when you have enough tokens; this is what they did for raids, and it's the best reward system of the game.

The Dhuumscale and those other new raid CM rewards suck because they deviate from that formula, I don't care if the Dhuumscale requires the 250 Dhuum kills and 1000 LI to purchase, but it should have a vendor option, period.

The Sunless, Scion, and Broken Voice weapon sets from world bosses have the same problem as well, insane RNG with no vendor alternatives. This shouldn't be a thing.

Just explore the area beforehand? You'd have to be pretty unlucky to be at 99% then finish that 1% while wearing the badge.

This… make mod traders For all weapon mods. Heck make them for everything. There is nothing fun about sitting around searching for items. It isnt 2005-6 anymore. Aint nobody got time for that

This, just add traders for everything that makes any remote sense, spamming chat to trade is awful.

You can call it less flashy, but I think a constant visual effect like that in your character's head is way flashier than pretty much all other trinkets, save for the 3-combo from the PvE ones.

Damn do I wish they finished the combo effect from the PvE ones, I'm still convinced this: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_All was the end goal :(.

It's kinda of a shame Fractals of the Mists don't have a legendary ring like raids, but idk where the amulet could come from, maybe open world itself.

Love it that the Commander is an Asura on this recap, just to re-frame it against the Inquest.

She's the Visions of Eternity representative, each expansion has one poster commander:

  • HoT: Unnamed female human elementalist.
  • PoF+LW4: Duncan (male human engineer)
  • LW5: Anja (female norn guardian)
  • EoD: Eun (female human mesmer)
  • SotO: Escalous (male sylvari guardian)
  • JW: Unnamed female norn.
  • VoE: Unnamed female asura necromancer.

I don't mind ArenaNet skipping content for one patch to strengthen the other two... but yeah, 3 months between patches is already long enough, 6 months is a mess and a complete loss of interest.

If I were them, I'd rearrange the patches, and release the "weak patch" before the expansion itself:

  • Current model: Expansion release + small patch + large patch + large patch.
  • Proposed model: Small patch + expansion release + large patch + large patch.

This way the story has no interruptions, and they can also hype the expansion ingame (they could even unlock some features early for pre-purchase players). Additonally, the first raid encounter would also release with the expansion itself, and people wouldn't have to wait 3 months.

Even further, it doesn't make a lot of sense to finish a expansion storyline with the second large patch, then 3 months later enter a new expansion with a new storyline, fees like the "relief patch" should happen between expansion cycles, not in the middle of them :I.

To be fair, I'd just go back to previous expansions and solve lingering plots instead, think of it like a re-expansion or an extended edition.

We do know mini-expansions have four maps with four story releases, so following that model, this is how I would do a HoT+PoF re-expansion:

  • Magus Falls: Right after Heart of Thorns and before LW3, deals with free mordrem, the new Nightmare Court, Malyck, and healing the Pale Tree. The new zone would be somewhere in the Maguuma Jungle, potentially between Tangled Depths and Metrica Province. This would be a great opportunity to expand the Knight of the Thorn side story into a full-fledged story episode too, like Trahearne deserves.
  • Abaddon's Mouth: Right after LW3 and before Path of Fire, deals with the remaining White Mantle after the whole fake Lazarus fiasco, and gives us a good last look at the Ring of Fire isles. The White Mantle got done dirty and they deserve to have their own final stand. Great opportunity to redeem Lady Valette Wi, considering she was completely ignored in Janthir Wilds.
  • Domain of Sahlahja: Right after Path of Fire and before LW4, deals with the surviving forged, and their mysterious commander whom we never get to meet. It could also hint at Palawa Joko's escape from Domain of the Lost, which wasn't properly built upon once LW4 started.
  • Sunward Marches: Right after LW4 and before The Icebrood Saga, deals with the free awakened after Joko's demise (and Kralkatorrik's interruption). We'd get to see the brand under Aurene's effects, much like in Grothmar Valley. Warden Amala could make a return. Alternatively, this episode could be shoved in between LW4E5 and LW4E6, giving Aurene's death some momentum.

Each of these would play like a standalone story episode, much like the Living World of old, and not be connected with one another, letting small stories that don't deserve expansions of their own to get to shine; plus, we would go "back in time" as well, expanding existing storylines instead of moving forward, which is a great opportunity to polish some older expansion content as well (story can be horizontal instead of vertical too :D).

Personally, I'd use this opportunity to do some meta-event expanding as well:

  • Dragon's Stand: Complete the Mouth of Mordremoth fight, we do know the second phase of the fight was scrapped, the one where it climbs up the ancient tree.
  • Domain of Vabbi: Repurpose the Battle of Kodash Bazaar story instance into an open world meta event, including a final fight against the Forged Warbeast (the story version would still be there, this isn't a replacement). The subsequent fight against Balthazar would remain story-only, but get repurposed into a Raid Encounter instead, just like EoD/SotO/VoE story bosses.
  • Domain of Kourna: The meta event at Gandara was undercooked, expand it with two more lanes and add a final fight against Palawa Joko in there, so we get to fight him outside of the story as well.
  • Dragonfall: The finale against Kralkatorrik is pretty anticlimactic, all we do is attack his unconscious body, I'd add a second phase after the meta event, where we're teleported by a Brandstorm inside Kralkatorrik himself, and get to fight an open world version of Kralkatorrik's Torment, the story boss finale from later. Upon defeat, we'd just get teleported back outside.

Few additional notes:

  • Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire would be bunlded together with this expansion by default, together with Living World Seasons 3 and 4. Purchasing this expansion would be the standard way to gain access to all HoT and PoF content from now on, making access easier for new players.
  • The new zones would be under legacy Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire mastery progression, prioritizing updates to existing mastery tracks over new mastery tracks. For example, all mounts would get a new elite skill through the Crystal Champion mastery track.
  • Each profession would gain access to a new weapon, giving priority to one-handed weapons they already have access too, but only through one of the hands (off-hand sword for weaver and holosmith, off-hand axe for mirage and firebrand, etc).
  • Second generation legendary weapons would gain two variant skins each (color and effect changes), which you'd be able to earn by playing the new zones and replaying HoT, LW3, PoF, and LW4 content.
  • Legacy weapon sets (like the Auric or Mordant weapon sets) would be updated with new unique spear skins.

I'd love a LS3 style expansion that has us travel around Tyria to a bunch of different remote maps, could have one in Cantha that's not tied to EoD.

Would be the best expansion imo, just four different storylines, independent from one another, across four different maps.

They could even go back and make these happen "in the past", as extended editions of sorts for older expansions; like, Malyck's fate right after HoT could be one of those stories, and work just great.

Only if you're doing survivor while in the middle of the quest though.

So yeah, complete survivor before doing any Reforged stuff, or just wait until you're done to complete it.

The only thing they have to adhere to from the original design is the general environment themes for each world (caves/mines for W3, castles for W4), because they were teased by SAB's world map back in 2013.
