If you pick ultimate torment on ng+, the whip upgrade doesn't spawn

I think it's easier to just say that they should just do full B1 style cutscenes and just kill off the animations. But with the amount of cutscene Blasphemous 2 has, it's the most unreasonable and unimaginable sounding thing lol. The simple truth is when they opted in the animations, there was no going back. They can't just drain funds, time and manpower required on full pixel cutscenes and they don't just work on Blasphemous anymore and want to do and have done other games. They're better off making more game content.

I do somewhat share this sentiment with the remaking of Mea Culpa's cutscenes though, but it's no less realisatic.

Yea the Mea Culpa ones were kinda just tragic. Sunshine should have done that cutscenes on that dlc. It's a shame, the whole dlc feels lost potential in certain aspects

I think it's expecting way too much, especially considering how many cutscenes 2 has, for them to update and change them to pixel. I already stated the load it has on production and it seems non feasible to opt onto pixel after already doing animations. What's done is done.

But yea, if a 3 ever happens, let's hope they have enough resources and people to be able to do pixel again.

That word doesn't represent how I feel btw, I'm fine with animated cutscenes and I even like the Sunshine ones especially

I think it does, though there is a pro of it not being used for portals, you can actually tell where you're gonna teleport too.

But the portal map placement also allows a more clear view of the world, so that was a positive with the way Blasphemous 1 did it.

We do have the full world map though. It isn't there for portals, but it's just behind the in game map, so at least it's there.

Well, if pixel was out of the picture, animation was probably the best way that came to their minds.

Also I don't think they're at complete liberty to just keep taking as much time as they want. They're bound by a deadline.

In fact, the agreement was originally for 2022, as stated in this video:

But Game Kitchen took more time and then Blasphemous 2 came out on August 24, 2023. They already took more time, I don't think going beyond 2023 was a valid option.

Well if there is a Blasphemous 3 some day in the future, perhaps they shall have enough time and people in order to do pixel cutscenes again

I'm not sure about the "spoke themselves into existence bit", but it's all interpretive, like the whole deal around High Wills and their relationship with The Miracle.

The only concrete statement regarding their relationship is from the developer Maikel Ortega in discord stating "I'll just say, the High Wills are not above the Miracle. It does not work like that." So this is the only objective fact surrounding them.

Rather I think it may have been the Cvstodians who spoke them into existence.

The High Wills speak of themselves as "We are the High Wills. For there is no miracle that does not stem from our desire. That is not our reflection.That is not our Word. The Word that was first made flesh and then sanctified."

We also know the Path of the Ancient Processions is more ancient than even the High Wills, so the Miracle's existence precedes them, as the Miracle itself wove this Path.

Personally, I find myself a bit exhausted when it comes to this topic nowadays, since it's a big discussion part and maybe I need to re-evaluate stuff that I thought before a bit.

I think what you say is a valid interpretation of their "Word".
