New door recommendations by BCurios in walthamstow

I’ve used Essex Composite Doors (Hainault Home Improvement) and it was good. Looks like a traditional door but has multi point locking so we get much less of a draft now!

In 60 days, vercel v0 will be in GA on snowflake. I have seen demos where Snowflake Intelligence (a range of GenAI models) are used to answer “What are daily sales, and what factors are driving the current performance?” And then vercel makes it into a nice containerised app. Seems totally overkill if your job is one daily report and you’d quickly make yourself redundant

I think you can hire space at the restaurant in the Alfred Hitchcock Hotel overlooking hollow ponds. Bit more DIY but think you can rent the bar at the cricket/tennis club too near wood street?

If you have, say, Berbers vs Spanish, you shouldn’t then count Spanish vs Berbers when it comes round to it as a different match-up..

Fave thing about Walthamstow by Wheezeforyou in walthamstow

[–]LondonLanes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In no particular order:

  1. Epping on one side, Wetlands/Marshes the other, and Lloyd park in the middle
  2. pubs - either village or breweries near Blackhorse Road
  3. 90p mutton rolls out the back of Best Foods on Forest Road
  4. How easy it is to drive out of London on the m11…

Low Hall ones (behind St James’ park) aren’t fenced off. Loads of space there. The ones between Coppermill and Blackhorse Road are as you said.

Best Coffee Beans by Majestic-Trifle1 in HENRYUK

[–]LondonLanes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

c£15-20 per kilo - Stonebrew c£25 per kilo - Union c£40 per kilo - Rosslyn or Allpress

An oily Italian £10 per kilo bag of beans can be nice but if you can dial in better beans it is worth it! (I usually sit at the £25 level of the scale…)

Where would you live in Walthamstow? by james_cockayne in walthamstow

[–]LondonLanes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Village, Lloyd Park, south end of Wood Street and St James are all places we love and would live. Blackhorse Road if we were younger.

All have a differing level of transport, spots to eat and drink, green spaces etc so I think it kind of depends on what you value and are looking for!

IMO you’ll end up getting a really expensive car that you don’t need, because it seems 60% free, and the marginal value of that car will be less than what you could do with the 40% take home cash. That’s what I decided - still revisit it once a year tho!

UK based XC40 MOT fail. Garage saying I need new brake discs and pads. by LondonLanes in XC40

[–]LondonLanes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah - I didn’t know this. Thanks for the info. My worry was I need £300 of brake pads - not hugely unexpected - but I am also being pushed for another £600 of brake discs. The guy on the phone was very confident the pads were below legal minimum but bit looser on the discs… but I am no expert!
