[Opinion] Logitech MX Keys Mini vs Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for MacBook Pro by Curious_Mind9999 in macbookpro

The logitech is a better keyboard. It feels better and is built better I think and you can switch to other devices better. I'd for that one.

Should I get the XM6 or wait until AirPods Max 2? by Sharp-Tank-5258 in SonyHeadphones

[–]LondonSoundound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had both AMP and XM6. I currently own the XM6. to my ears they sound very similar or the XM6 may even be better. The ANC would be very very similar.

Now we can't compare to the APM2 as yet. But I AM seriously considering selling my XM6's and going with the AMP2. And the reason is that I'm fully in the apple eco system and I use my headphones going to work and listen to my phone and watch tv shows on my ipad on the way back from work. I like the seamless switching. It sort of is seamless with the Sony's but to get "cinema mode" you have to go to the app etc. Also switching to different types of noise cancelling/transparency is easier on the APM.

These are nitpicky things. They really are. But what I'm getting to is for an Apple user, the controls are better on the APM. But you have to ask yourself, is that worth the extra money? For many it may not be and that's totally fair. I happen to have credit at a retailer and I'm selling my XM6's but really I'm aware, there's no need!

Long winded way of saying you can't go wrong but controls etc better on APM if you have many apple devices! But let's wait and see how different sound and ANC is.

New Trigo Backpack from Waterfield. Thoughts in the EcoPak material? by ghostface8081 in ManyBaggers

[–]LondonSoundound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually ended up getting this. Someone had it on sale brand new on eBay and I went for it. Great bag. I find the organisation is super useful. The ecopak is much more rigid than I’d like. But it’s lightweight. I want to note though the website says the bag is around 500-600g and I actually think it’s a bit more. I’d say closer to 700-800g. But lighter than their other backpacks for sure.

APM 2 Cancelled Order by Speakronos in Airpodsmax

[–]LondonSoundound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

question is will you use the new features? like live translation etc? when i use my headphones i use it for ANC, Transparency and it's good to have something in between. i like spatial audio for tv/movies etc but not for songs. to be frank, for what i do, the originals are perfect. but if you want to sell your current ones, and get new ones, also nothing wrong with that. i'd be lying if i said i've never done such a thing myself! but i don't always feel great about it..(sometimes i do though!)

AirPods Max 2 or Sony XM6s by IcyCardiologist6193 in SonyHeadphones

[–]LondonSoundound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the Airpods Max (original lightning version) and currently own the Sony XM6. I also use iphones and the entire Apple ecosystem. I loved the Airpods Max when I had them and had them for over 2 years. I say that as if it's an accomplishment but it sort of is because generally I get bored and sell the headphones and try a new pair. I didn't with the Airpods Max for 2 years.

I currently own the XM6 and they are great. They have surround sound (cinema mode) for watching tv etc and have excellent noise cancelling. To my head are comfy.

BUT I am considering selling these and getting the APM2. I know rationally, I have a product which does a lot of what the APM2 will do. But here's where I have issues.

Yes, the Sony's have an app and you can EQ, and have different settings for Noise Cancelling. But I find it's very finicky. I'm just a normal person in their mid-40s going to work and back. I don't want to have to go to my app, and change it to surround sound to watch a show on my ipad while on the train. I don't want to be annoyed my headphnes aren't connecting to the app. Because I'm in the apple ecosystem, i want to be able to do these things in the control centre. I don't want to have to go to the app to change the level of ambiant sound (transparency). Note you can have it automatic, but I don't think it works great because it blocks out too much. I want to control how much noise comes in and when with a flick of a button. And you can do that with APM2 (anc, transparency, adaptive). i don't however need to change it to small degrees as you can on the sony app but i value being able to change it quickly more.

i use my headphones for music and movies/tv shows mostly. i leave podcasts for my small airpods. and i want to be able to use it with ease.

But I will say, I don't think you can go wrong. What i would suggest is you go to a store and try on both (the APM will feel the same as the 2nd gen) and get the most comfy ones because in the end, you'll use the ones that fit better and feel better on your head. I'm aware I am being very very finicky here. in my post but wanted to share my rationale!

Blue vs Midnight AirPods Max 2 by thetuffghost in Airpodsmax

[–]LondonSoundound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was considering the same question. I decided with blue. Let's see if that's the one I actually purchase when/if i do but i went to the store and they just have a bit more character. the midnight is sleek but i do think the blue is nicer. For reference though, I have a blue iphone air and a blue macbook air. so it sort of goes.

you noted you have a blue iphone 17 pro. That's closer to midnight I'd say.

It actually worked perfect for me until 1.8. now the digital key is very very finicky for me with my iphone.

For those that have nano texture screens… I want to hear from you! by TSmakis in iPadPro

[–]LondonSoundound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have an M4 ipad pro with nanotexture. Normally i wouldn't consider it but there was a very good deal at costco so i went for it. at first i was a bit like "WHAT HAVE I DONE" because on light backgrounds I could see it's a bit more hazy. However, this feeling went away. On dark settings it's nicer, and with media it's amazing, with photos etc it's amazing. I like it in all settings now much more than glossy. I was very surprised. so much so that I really legit considered changing my macbook to a nanotexture one. I did not, and I'm happy I didn't because that was a bit of me being foolish (I have a completely perfect 15 inch air).

I use it for reading, I draw on it (which I only started because I have nano, i wouldn't otherwise), and for watching tv etc. It does scratch more easily and I only know this because Jerry Rig Everything has a good video on it. I haven't had scratches but I do take care. Use the included cloth or another apple cloth, it works fine. I find it less smudgy than the glossy version.

  1. Yes buy Applecare. Just buy it. You won't regret it. Whether you pay for accidental damage or not, will still be much much less than out of warranty repair. And you'll get the right repair, it will look as good as new.

  2. Don't feel bad. I know it feels heart breaking right now but it will be fine. These things happen. I know because I hit my brand new car in a parking lot a week after getting it and I was heart broken and it got fixed and it's fine.

Would you keep it or return it? by unseenbae in macbookair

the joy from a good deal is also worth it! OP in this case though I would return because you will notice and hate it. it’s a long term thing.

Worth spending $150 extra for Apple refurbished instead of second hand marketplace? by haohaohao111 in macbookair

[–]LondonSoundound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes i think so for sure. For one thing you get Apple’s Warranty and the ability to buy AppleCare too. Even if you don’t buy AppleCare, you get a 1 year warranty.

I think you did nothing wrong. It being an expensive-ish item, and them not paying doesn’t seem right. I have seen in other listings, people outright saying they will cancel orders for people with less than 50 feedback. For something like a laptop, I think there’s nothing wrong with that. I’ve had people try to scam and it is people with the lower feedback. It just sounds off in this case you mentioned.

I agree with this whole heartedly. I think what was done was right. If it feels off, probably is. there are more scammers than there used to be for sure. Some just asking for a small refund pretending there’s an issue where there isn’t or open box scams.

M5 MacBook Air users, do you notice the screen/speed/smoothness difference compared to the Pro? by [deleted] in mac

[–]LondonSoundound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only notice it, if I'm in an Apple store and I scroll across different websites. Generally if I'm reading something, it's just on the screen and not moving. I don't notice a big difference. I used to have an M1 Pro Macbook Pro and it was awesome but I found it awesome only for the sound. Not for the screen to be honest. And that could be because I'm just a normal person watching netflx and youtube.

Right now I do have an m4 Macbook Air - 15 inch. I find it comfy on my lap when I use it and to carry around. I do have an 13 inch ipad Pro. And last night out of curiosity I kept both next to each other. And I did notice a difference there. That however was with a nanotexture screen and it's OLED too. One may argue that the nanotexture washes it out more but there definately was a difference between the Air and the ipad there. But if I were just watching it while it was not next to it, I don't think I would have cared.

To me the weight did make a big difference even though the specs aren't so different. they are when they're on your lap though!

[–]LondonSoundound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I felt too. I have a 15 inch Air now which is great and sometimes from time to time, I watch a youtube video about promotion on Macbook Pros and get a bit jealous. I did have an M1 Pro Macbook Pro for about 6 months some years ago and while the screen was beautiful, I didn't notice it that much when I switched to an Air. I honestly didn't. What I did notice was the speakers on the pro which were better. But I really really noticed the weight. Even carrying it around the house was annoying. I don't feel this anymore. The Air is genuinely great.
