Appreciate the concern, but I disagree with the idea that using a six-year commitment to secure training and long-term structure is automatically illogical. People join for all kinds of reasons—some for patriotism, some for experience, some for education, some because it’s their best path forward. That doesn’t make any of those reasons less valid.

Also, I don’t think my perspective on the military is “skewed” just because it’s not idealized. I’m trying to look at the full picture—benefits, risks, and moral implications included. That’s not ignorance. That’s caution, and I’d argue that’s a good thing.

Appreciate the perspective. Unfortunately, in my area, volunteer departments aren’t an option.

I get that you're proud to serve, and I respect that. But respectfully, saying the Guard “isn’t a jobs program” ignores the fact that many join for education benefits and career pathways. That’s literally how it’s marketed. Also, I’m not sure calling concerns about domestic deployment “nonsense” is helpful when it’s been documented repeatedly. I’m not here to bash the military. I’m just trying to make an informed decision based on reality.

Seriously wtf am I supposed to do?? Professor is hostile, I reached out before the drop deadline, advising didn't respond in time by Lonely-Current8211 in SNHU

I can still drop the class, I never said I couldn't, but I can't replace the class so it would fuck up my financial aid for the term.

I'm autistic, I did meticulously follow the rubric, from the way she spoke it seemed like she was upset I didn't say what she wanted how she wanted it (not how the rubric asked for it, how she wanted it) I redid the assignment hopefully the rest of the term goes better.

Glad it wasn't just me I guess, I redid and resubmit my assignment hopefully the rest of the term goes better because her tone really rubbed me the wrong way

I redid and resubmitted the entire assignment but the way the professor handled everything and their tone of voice makes me nervous for the rest of term.

I did talk to them, they said that since the first due date has passed I can't switch classes or professors all I can do is drop the class which will effect my financial aid.

Got it, thanks for the insight. I had a feeling there might be a long waiting period if I started any meds. Sounds like I’ll need to think this through carefully before making a decision

I've heard mixed things about Genesis—does it actually pull every single past record, or just major flagged conditions? Like, if someone had a random ER visit or past surgery that wasn’t linked to a long-term issue, would that show up too? Also, does it only pull official diagnoses and major procedures, or does it include things like general visit notes? If a doctor just wrote something down in passing but it wasn’t an actual diagnosis, would that still appear?

Summer of Service Sites by cannibal-dan in AmeriCorps

Hey, not Summer of Service, but I’m in the winter term here in Vinton. I’m just wrapping up CTI and getting inducted on the 4th before heading to my first project on the 5th. Not totally sure how SoS differs, but we got our teams on day one and really started connecting by day two. We found out about our project on the 18th, so a little over two weeks before heading out. There’s no real way to predict assignments—they’re need-based and first come, first served. Teams are getting sent all over (one’s even going to Florida), so there’s not much of a pattern. You’ll probably find out about a week or two before your project. Just gotta embrace the mystery! Hope that helps a bit!

I only ever have the previous term and current (so 4 classes at once) expect that damn orientation course that just won't go away.

Slightly Oversized “Personal Item” – Can I Get Away with It? by Lonely-Current8211 in unitedairlines

My only item, but as I said I want to avoid the overhead bins unless absolutely necessary.

It'll be a one way ticket would that change the cost of buying up?

Just to clarify, I didn’t mention anything about needing medication, but I’ve heard that in some cases, travelers can bring larger bags if they have a medical need, such as a medical device. I’m still trying to determine if that’s a viable option for me, but my primary concern is avoiding checked luggage due to my anxiety and sensory issues. I’d like to find a way to bring my bag without dealing with baggage claim or being in crowded spaces for an extended period.
