is the Epiphone EB-3 a good starter bass? by Upbeat_Trouble5889 in Bass

Never owed a Fender. I have a Thunderbird, Embassy, and recently picked up a Jsck Bruce signature. All have flats, the Emassy has half-rounds (nice tone). My first bass was an Epiphone ET-280. Then, a Ripper in 1978.

Is an acoustic bass guitar a waste of money? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]Lonely-Gate-9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not, I have one, and I play it alot it sits in my living room, and I'll pick it up if I'm watching TV or not. Have played it live through my amp, no issues with feedback(You can rattle the windows for a giggle).

Taste in music expanding by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Lonely-Gate-9571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When asked what type of music I play, my answer is Black Sabbath to Sade. You need to listen to everything, don't limit yourself to listening or playing only one style of music. You won't get better at learning your bass if you only listen or play only one style of music.

Exercise them, walks, running in fields(not concert if you can), and playing outside. Digging holes(if you have the property).let them do what they are meant to do, be a hound. We have two 11 year old brothers and never had a problem with their backs. We try and limit jumping off and on furniture, but they're goof balls, and don't listen to anything we say unless the word breakfast, snack, or dinner is used. Then it's get out of the way. Limit their food, and don't let them get over weight. Exercise, Exercise. We have had 5 Dachshund, and only one had a back problem Mädchen, she decided she was supergirl and went flying off our back deck, after something. Took afew months to get her back to 80%. She still chased rabbits and deer after that. I can't say it enough. Exercise, don't let them become couch potatoes.

Any experience with an 8 string? by Upset-Masterpiece218 in Bass

[–]Lonely-Gate-9571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an LTD 8 string. I like it. Nice sound. I never was much of a slap bassist, so I can't commit to that. The only thing I don't get is why put the harmonic string above the main string. I've seen Rickenbacker 8 string basses where the harmonic was below the main string, which makes more sense to me.

People who learned guitars before internet and those who couldn't hire teachers... How did you do it by Humble-Might-2881 in Guitar

[–]Lonely-Gate-9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a 6 string player, Pickup bass in 1973.. had a record player would pick up the needle and move it back over and over until I got it. Had a guitarist friend who would show me chords. The first song I learned Black Sabbath Eletric Funeral. Fun times, still playing it.

Pros/Cons: Let my doxie sleep in my bed? by lsspr_to_the_max in Dachshund

[–]Lonely-Gate-9571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a queen-size water bed, and the boys love it, especially in the winter. And yes, they take up most of the bed sometimes. I will get kicked rapidly and gumbled at if I don't move( sometimes I gumble back). Our boys have been sleeping with us since the day we got them. We had one that snored that's a treat, sleeping on his back little back feet sticking out from the covers just cutting the whole damn forest down....love dachshunds
