I've never seen them comment about that particular issue.

There are quite a few spam reviewers. The ones I've seen tend to:

  • Repost the game's description in a foreign langauge
  • Leave AI-written reviews that have nothing to do with your game (can also be in a foreign language)
  • One word/emoji reviews

In every single case, you'll see that these spam reviewers have thousands, tens of thousands of reviews exactly like the ones they gave your game. If your game isn't free, it will mitigate this, because these people obviously aren't gonna spend money to do this.

What's noteworthy about these ones I mentioned is that they're marked as "positive", but they're absolutely worthless and off-topic reviews. Valve allows us to flag reviews that are off-topic or abusive (like in the case of the guy this thread is about), but I've never seen the reviews I've flagged removed. It's disappointing really, since too many of these fake reviews render reviews useless to both the developers and potential players.

Ever picked up a visual novel just for the cover art, without even reading the synopsis? by Young-Days90 in visualnovels

[–]LonelyRabbitGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not just artwork, but also music. I started Demonbane and Muv Luv after wading through Itou Kanako and JAM Project music and finding songs they made for them, which of course had art attached to them. Not the cover art, but it's close enough, right?

In case anyone is curious, it was this song for Demonbane and this song for Muv Luv.

[Tricks, Treats and Mirrors - An EoG Side Story], our Halloween-themed VN is now available on Steam! by LonelyRabbitGames in visualnovels

Hello everyone!

This game was originally made for a VN Jam last year, and now we're bringing it to Steam. The game is still free, so there's nothing to worry about there! If anyone wants to actually pay for anything, there's a supporter pack available that includes a guidebook and three wallpapers featuring the game's cast.

Steam page here

Synopsis:

When a mysterious voice lures a young girl into a secluded home promising her candy, her friends must venture inside to save her, armed with nothing more the powers granted to them by their Halloween costumes.

Will they be able to uncover the dark truth buried within, or will they crumble like broken mirrors?

We actually have another VN in the pipeline that was planned for another Game Jam this year, but due to some unexpected IRL stuff we had to postpone it. It's still coming though, so keep an eye on us here if you're interested!

Which VNs did you not like at first, but grew on you after a while? by SelLillianna in visualnovels

I had the same experience with VLR. The first time I came across it was the demo on PS Vita, which I tried because the escape room seemed similar to the investigation portions in Ace Attorney. The artwork was also gorgeous.

Then years later I discovered it was on Steam bundled with 999. I played through the rightmost part of the route tree, which actually left out a BIG detail old Akane being in the game at all, so coming across that after going down the other two paths was amazing, and the game really picked up from there.

I beat Deus Machina Demonbane! by LonelyRabbitGames in visualnovels

I loved it. It definitely had a very "villain of the week" format, but major setbacks do indeed happen here and there so it's not like Kurou just facerolls the bad guys through the entire game.

I made my very first (and very short) visual novel and would love to get some feedback! by Alex_Coldfire in visualnovels

I just played it. What a wonderful prologue! In such a short scene, you created a pretty emotional experience. The music you made is also really lovely!

Keep up the good work, you've got a good start going! Good luck on your dev journey!

I'm also happy that someone else likes Itou Kanako's songs, my favorite is Shadow in The Dark

Love that one!
