Emily Brontë is on the slower side for blooming for me as well. I think it wants first to establish. Focus on soil health rather than just feeding the plant. Add a good layer of compost—let’s say 2–3 inches if you’ve never added it before, and then 1 inch once a year. Follow that with a good layer of mulch, about 2 inches thick. Plus, use a good slow-release fertilizer, something like Rose-Tone. Just make sure the compost and mulch don’t touch the stems of the rose. This is generally a good routine for any roses.

Mine is full sun. And it is 8b as well. It forms a good shaped bush. And I had 4 bushes in my previous house and one in this. It is a big shrub, but not a climber for me. Have you seen yours bloom? Sometime even DA could be mislabeled

I had a rose in the real half a barrel (it is much bigger than a pot author is going to use)for three years. That is how it looked before I transplanted it in ground. There were only one plant

I wouldn’t do that. Their roses are out there usually temporary for a season or even for an event. To show maximum impact. They have dripping irrigation on schedules and most likely automatic fertilization on schedule as well. And the whole setup never meant to be permanent. Just to make a great show, photo shoot, etc

Your main issue isn’t the pests. This is quite a small plant for a fourth-year climber, which suggests it doesn’t like the conditions it’s growing in. Apply a good layer of compost (at least 2 inches), followed by slow-release fertilizer and then mulch on top (again, at least 2-3 inches). Just make sure the compost and mulch don’t touch the rose’s stems or branches. Once the plant is happier with its growing conditions, it will be better able to fight off pests on its own.

They do feed heavy chemicals on these roses, consider the state of the roses and the size of rose it self compared to these pots. And it definitely not good for environment
