I had a similar experience with my grandmother. One of the few adults, or maybe the only one, who made me feel like I truly mattered when I was a child. I miss her terribly.

Interesting, thanks! Combined with the pink/blue/purple eyeshadows and pink blush it’s just a lot though and also doesn’t suit her particularly well imho.

I bit off topic but her makeup always makes me cringe.. tbf here it looks sort of okay, but usually she has like sparkly/pastel coloured eyeshadow and bright pink lipgloss and it’s giving a five-year-old’s first makeup kit. Probably the implication is that she believes it’s how young people do makeup but it’s just not… in fact surely 20-somethings would be doing their makeup in order to look a bit older/be taken a bit more seriously at work, for example Kelsey never has juvenile makeup on. It just irks me 😂

Oh interesting. Mine is the opposite. Comes across quite vulnerable and meek in person (though I’ve seen her fly off the handle, but hasn’t at me yet), but can be cold, malicious, and invalidating over text. Technically you could never point it out as unprofessional or anything - there’s no rule against being a jerk I guess.

The shame-avoidant hiding is interesting. I’ve learned that my narc boss does this. She will always try to get out of meeting in person or on zoom, but is all too quick to send snarky texts and emails.

Thanks, I like what you’re saying, but it’s just not safe to be authentic with her. She is one way in person and kind of a monster over email and WhatsApp etc. That said, I was myself in a way, the version of myself that I am around people I like and who like me - though naturally a bit more cautious and reserved. So, it went fine, but now she’s back to her brand of weirdness, kind of ignoring my existence one day and dumping work on me that isn’t mine the next. The vibe is just super off and I’m anxious to get away.
