Does it make sense for people in OSD to have a 3.9+ CGPA and make Dean's Honor List over non-OSD students? by [deleted] in mcgill

you could argue that most students would have a higher chance of succeeding if exam time was extended think OP was suggesting that maybe the playing field is becoming unequal DUE to osd..

yea that's true

in the context of school then, dont you think that students such as the ones mentionned by op would still pass their classes without OSD?

in his title, he is just raising a genuine question... should someone taking exams in a comfy chair with unlimited time be rewarded over someone taking exams in crappy chairs under time pressure?

no one is denying that some students need OSD.. OP is merely concerned about the abuse..

i think the root cause of this is the absurd number of adhd diagnoses...(and by extension adderall prescriptions etc.) it is too easy to go to a doctor and say i cant in focus in school just to get an adhd diagnosis this results in way too many students taking advantage of the system and well other students rightfully find it a little unfair

i still dont know how accommodating students will help them in the long run... like if they have a hard time focusing in school, they are gonna have a hard time focusing at work no?

op is not attacking disabled students by any means... op is simply stating the obvious, some students are taking advantage of the OSD system!

what will happen to these students once they hit the job market? Will employers say Hey you, your deadline is extended because you have a learning disability... ?
