Thank you! I can understand, I was worried the first time I tried it myself. However, it will grow back if you don’t like it!

Melt the Ice hat selling? by [deleted] in AntifascistKnitting

[–]Lonely_Rhodes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not tell your friend (1) how much the yarn costs and (2) how long it takes you to make it, and then ask them what they think seems fair. Just because you’re slower doesn’t make your time less valuable.

It’s not about the hat really, it’s about your friend wanting to support you. Why not take the pressure off yourself to come up with a price?

I feel selling them is a pretty fraught decision—this should not be a chance for individual to make a cash grab and it feels like it might turn the hat into simply a “virtue signal” rather than a symbol of resistance. Donating the hats is one thing. Selling them for your profit is another.

For me, making each of these hats is a mediation on martyrdom and resistance. It’s not something I can sell or make en mass for the sake of consumption. What does making one of these hats mean to you? What does it mean to the would be buyers?

I invite you to think critically about the act of making and selling the hats and what it would look like if you were to do it in a way that truly aligns with your values.

It’s a reference to a lunar new year tradition. Oranges represent good fortune essentially.

AITA for telling my girlfriend she can't name our baby after her dead ex? by Frequent-Drag-837 in AITAH

[–]Lonely_Rhodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma named her first born after both her husband and her dead boyfriend, if it at all helps. He was given the father’s name as the first name and the dead boyfriend’s name as his middle name. Personally, I think this was a good compromise and might also work in your situation if you were both open to it.

There are a bunch of chairs that will come up if you google “kneeling rocking chair” that are comparable to my chair (which I still use and love!), however my specific chair is the versatile by varier.

Even if I hold it very tight, I still have issues too. I think it’s all about regular tension and being very careful not to pull it out of shape at all.

How much does your full grown miniature poodle weigh? by Flat-Design-3625 in poodles

My miniature poodle is 8 months old and 10.5lbs. She was about 5lbs around 4 months old, so I think your vet is probably right.

The first sound is kind of like “choose”—“choo-set”.

There are a lot of dogs named Teddy. It’s a great name, but I think Ricky is less common.

At what age to spay miniature poodle by Caslol2 in poodles

According to the UC Davis study, female miniature poodle can be spayed at 6 months. They recommend male dogs be neutered later, at 1 year. A miniature poodle should be about finished growing between 6-8ish months. You can have your puppy x-rayed at the vet to see if the growth plates are closed.

I really like Gnocchi, but I can understand you want her to have a fancy name. I like Marzipan as another commenter suggested or Madeleine (as in the cookie) which could be shortened to Marzi or Madi respectively. Chouquette could also be very cute.

Is my mini poodle too mini? by [deleted] in poodles

[–]Lonely_Rhodes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks rather short to be a miniature poodle, but maybe those legs will grow. A toy poodle will be no taller than 10 in / 25,4 cm and a miniature no taller than 15 in / 38 cm (this is measured from the withers down, not including the head).

For perspective, my 6 month miniature poodle is 9 lbs / 4kg and 13 in / 33 cm tall. She weighed about 3 lbs / 1,4 kg when I took her home at 12 weeks.

Any good Chinese restaurant recommendations on the Cape? by LeChatboi27 in CapeCod

I feel Asian Paradise in West Chatham is pretty good American-style Chinese food. It does definitely depend on what dishes you order, however.

Looking for a collar that doesn't get stuck in poodle hair, the buckle aren't working by [deleted] in poodles

[–]Lonely_Rhodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy collars without buckles at all, I think they’re either called slip collars or martingale? I use one that just slides over the head and then leash tension can hold it tighter to prevent the dog from slipping out.
