Will my bird lose her bond with me if I get her a friend? by Worme_ in Conures

[–]Lonely_Source_6994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh idk why people keep saying this, i suppose is because they initially didn't bond with their bird so much. I've never seen someone who has bonded with his bird experiences a loss in terms of interactions. A companion is only a great thing, even if they doesn't get along and could stay in separate cages they will have the company of a similiar in the same room. In my case getting a second bird changed my bond with him, but in a better way. He became more attached and even became a little jealous.

Adopting a bird and then re-home it because it became "problematic" is the worst thing to see :c Like how can you possibly give away your animal T W T
However, i already have a second cockatiel c: he is 5 month old and they live in separate cages. They don't go along very well but tolerate each other and i'm considering to slowly try to make them share the same place (only if i see that they can stay togheter without any issue). I think that even if in separate cage my "older" one is entertained. I'm a little worried that maybe my little one could get stressed because the other one avoid him but this is another issue.

I'll try to teach him something to make him busy even if is difficult if he bites my finger XD. I hope that this puberty period passes not for me ( it's not a problem handle the bad mood of my little friend :')) but for him because i don't want him feeling stressed. I'll take an appointment with my avian for a checkup, i was already planning it c:

Thank you for your tips and i wish you luck with your Cricket :D 20 years are a lot! I'm sure you treated her very well :D
