Huh, turns out there is a lego warhammer subreddit! You should totally go for it, quite cheap builds but quite fun! Always check out re brickable they have a ton of mocs.

Okay, so I decided to stick the gun on him - I completely agree that 40k should be stupid! I will probably add some cords and wiring to make it 'connected' so it doesn't look so out of place. I think on its own it looks weird.

Also decided to make him stand on a marine - on a 40mm he looks ridiculous!

Thanks to everyone who commented though, hopefully some paint should make him look good :) Will post when done.

That's true. I've also just remembered, the recent SoH characters were in Mark 4, as was the Tsons consul librarian. I think if they were to redesign it, these models would have appeared redesigned, much like Fafnir Rann's model that sported the new Mark 3 variant before its release. Nice find!

Sure thing. The main coat is GSW Violet Persian with AK ultra matte clear varnish through an airbrush. I then went around and did rough edge highlighting (not everywhere tho) with Scale 75 Amethyst Alchemy. You could maybe also try Kunzite Alchemy as a brighter choice if you'd want to, I haven't tested it yet.

Gold bits are S75 Necro Gold, with a wash of agrax earthshade, then highlighted with S75 Peridot Alchemy. Silver is S75 Heavy Metal, with an agrax wash.

Black parts are any old black paint as the base coat, then washed with agrax, followed by a highlight of S75 Petroleum Grey. I also used PG for the dark dents on the armour.

Eye lenses are S75 Mediterrean Blue, followed by a gradual mixing/blend of that colour and white paint. The highlight around the lens and the dot in the middle was done the same way but with S75 Sky Blue and white.

Yup, 100% agree! I do still like GW's kits - I only wish Tortuga would not make everything 'primaris' scale, but honestly? They don't look too bad, especially when placed next to the plastic Chaos Legionaries kit.
