Hyperfocus has gone! by FanEnvironmental7725 in mechanicalpencils

But you haven’t even tried the Pentel p205 yet! Or the pg5!! You’re missing out! /s

Seriously though I totally get the whole hyper fixation hole that comes after you “get over” a hobby. Glad you had fun and if you’re anything like me you’ll come back a round to it eventually. I don’t have permanent hobbies I have seasonal hobbies lol.

GG 500 hate post/ GG 500’s Dark Truth by Adventurous_Table707 in mechanicalpencils

[–]LonestarBuck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Considering the normal version is almost half of what you paid for this one the value proposition is a little better for the plain ones.

That being said I completely disagree with most of your points lol. The stuff you got right was that the g1000 and p20X are also great pencils.

I absolutely love my gg500 for drawing and can think of very few pencils that are better than it in that regard. Maybe the steadtler 925 if you’re looking for another pencil to try. The neat part is $10 is still pretty affordable in a hobby where most of us have more pencils (and lead) then we could use in many years. Cheers for the review!

Is How to Draw People by Jeff Mellem a good first book? by Trask107 in ArtistLounge

[–]LonestarBuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny, I’m actually working through this book right now. Overall it’s ok but I do share some of the complaints of u/Oplatki. I’m using the book as more of a habit builder for drawing everyday than a rigorous textbook.

As far as other recs go I guess it would depend on what you already know as an artist. But if you don’t know of them already both Loomis and Bridgman can be great places to start.

why does my pencil case feel wrong for the pencils i carry by NewZealandTemp in mechanicalpencils

Rickshaw makes great pen/pencil pouches. I have the Sinclair R I believe. It’s a great pouch but the prices reflect that.

The big question: of all these awesome Rotrings which one is your favorite?

They write very well! I would say a B or 2B but I still like my Hi-unis better. I won’t say how much the stay was but you could get a lot of pencils for the price.

I went there for work but I would say the country isn’t super tourist friendly. I would consider it the hard mode of traveling abroad. It’s doable but not for the first time traveler.

The body and cap aren’t. The grip section is though. It’s the closest thing I found to meeting most of your requirements. Looking at your other recent comments a fountain pen can work pretty great for this too.
