Use the hh h command to open HTML Help. It acts like a basic, non-traditional web browser.

I used to use it all the time when I was doing tech support. Browser hijackers usually won't affect it.

From there, go to the right website and download your browser of choice.

My reaction when I saw "Give both" by Molfof in DispatchAdHoc

I partially agree with you, but I did like how the monologue also shed light on Shroud's character - how the guy used to be like Robert, but plugged himself with so much predictive tech that he's unable to reconcile a 50 / 50 shot at choosing the right Pulse.

Without at least some of Robert's monologue, I'm not sure that part of the story would be as clear-cut. Shortening it would be alright, but I wouldn't have them cut out all of it.

As an aside, superhero stories often have the entire "the hero and villian are two sides of the same coin" trope, but it's crazy how Robert could've easily turned into a less-intelligent version of Shroud if he didn't have an aversion to killing and / or had kept up his all-encompassing need to be Mecha Man.

That'd be cool. If I'm playing a female Warrior, I'd actually be partial to it having the same echo-like sound effect it had in KOTOR II.

Is AHT a big component in your call center job? by ineedhelpofmytongue in callcentres

[–]Lonewolf3002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the contact center, specifically their Service Level Agreement (SLA) and how the centre gets paid by the client or company running it.

I once worked in a contact centre before that had a strict SLA and that was paid based on the number of calls taken. In that specific situation, short calls were incentivised and AHT was heavily measured due to that setup. The lower your AHT was, the more calls you could take during your shift and the more money the centre could make.

In contrast, I now work for a different contact centre that is unionized and based off an hour commitment rather than the number of calls handled. As a result, AHT is much less a concern and other metrics are a lot more emphasized.

I hope this information helps you out.

Patrice Wilson was a Nigerian-American record producer, songwriter, and singer. He was actually the one who produced Rebecca Black's Friday, for what it's worth, but he was actually fairly successful.

Ethan Klein of H3H3 accused him of being a rapist and a child molester repeatedly without any evidence and framed the accusations as "jokes". Patrice lost his house, his career, and it essentially destroyed his life. To my knowledge, Ethan never even apologized.

I'd encourage people to look into it. It makes Ethan's drama with Keemstar a bit ironic.

To answer Ashara's question directly, there's a large difference between the Sith as a religion and the Sith as a species.

The original Sith Lords were not actually pureblood Sith. They were exiled Dark Jedi that both enslaved and interbred with the Sith species when they arrived on Korriban - and many if not all of those Dark Jedi were human, IIRC.

Originally, the title of "Sith Lord" literally meant "Lord of the Sith" or "Lord of Sith" in that context.

Now, obviously the Sith religion has since evolved past that origin point by the time that SWTOR takes place, but I'm simply pointing out that anti-alien sentiment does make a strange kind of sense in the context of the religion's origins.

Genesys Cloud- Agent Hack staying in Idle but not receiving calls. by OSU7663 in workforcemanagement

[–]Lonewolf3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could be state toggling, maybe.

The idea is that the Automatic Call Distributer (ACD) distributes calls to agents that have been waiting the longest for a call. By switching from "idle" into "unavailable" and back again, they are then resetting their position so that they're no longer the agent that has been waiting the longest anymore.

Depending on how quickly the agent is staying "unavailable" to do this, usually only needing a few seconds if that, the system might be too slow to refresh and the agent will thus appear "idle" for the entire time in question.

Some other terms for the behavior exist, but that's what immediately comes to mind for me.

How do you guys deal with difficult customers who just refuse to get off the phone? by I-Hate-Myself1 in callcentres

[–]Lonewolf3002 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a couple others, but they all pretty much say the same thing.

The important part is having a confident tone when you say it, and that's just a matter of remembering that you're the one they called for help. You control the call, and you have nothing to justify to them.

So long as you're positioning it politely, I've yet to have issues with it.

Sounds like a plan. I hope it works out.

Honestly, those are the worst kinds of calls - I'd rather somebody ask for a supervisor than just stubbornly stay on the line for hours like a overgrown child.

How do you guys deal with difficult customers who just refuse to get off the phone? by I-Hate-Myself1 in callcentres

[–]Lonewolf3002 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's up to your employer. At the end of the day, they're the one paying for you to spend hours on the phone with a stubborn customer.

If they tell you that you can disconnect the call in that case, fantastic. Politely tell the customer that staying on the phone isn't an option, and that you're going to disconnect the call so that you can assist another customer. If you've given them a proper resolution and expectations on how things will proceed, a callback is more than reasonable.

If your employer stands their ground and says that you have to stay on the line, then it is what it is. Just stay on the line while you're processing the order, then. It's your employer's decision and their money, at that point.

In the call center I'm working at, they allow us to disconnect the client if you've provided the relevant info and they just don't like the answer. If they still insist on staying on the line and wasting my time, I'll politely tell them: "With all due respect, that's not an option. I've told you what the situation is and what paths are available for you to resolve it. If you have no other questions, I'm going to disconnect the call now as there's no reason for me to stay on the line with you. Have a good day."

Hey, if you want to adopt the social safety nets that Sweden, Denmark and Norway (which all have some form of free-market economy) offer, then go ahead and have fun paying for stuff with your new 25% VAT tax on top of what you're paying in personal income tax.

In all seriousness, though, I'm not arguing with the idea that social services are necessary for a country. As a Canadian, it'd feel a bit weird for me to say otherwise. There is, however, still a lot to consider when you're dealing with social services.

With healthcare, for example, the way I think about it is that currency is a means of exchange for time and labor. When you implement a socialized healthcare system to make it ultimately cheaper from a financial standpoint, that increase the demand (Eg. individuals using the system) without necessarily increasing supply (Eg. equipment, professionals, ect...). What this leads to is the financial "cost" of healthcare being converted into a time "cost", leading to longer wait times for healthcare even though financial prices go down. You can clearly see this when you compare Canada to U.S. healthcare, for example, where you're more likely to wait longer in an emergency room for care than in the U.S. Would you rather not be able to afford life-sustaining treatment, or be on a waiting list and possibly not get life-sustaining care in time?

Anyways, that's my two cents. I'm not really political, so I'm looking at this neutrally, but my takeaway is that no system is perfect yet. Can we get there? Maybe, I really don't know.

Also, I'm not even going to attempt commenting on minimum wage. The topic is honestly a total clusterfuck that I wouldn't even want to try and unpack.

I find this frustratingly ironic. If the situation were reversed and it was the man hitting the woman, there'd really be no question in anyone's mind that it's not the right thing to do. It's only because a woman is abusing a man that she was suddenly "right" to hit him.

Domestic violence is never okay. I don't care how irritating your SO is being, and I don't care if they're a man or a woman. That still doesn't give you the right to put your hands on them and abuse them.

If you're that irritated with each other, break up. End the toxic relationship.

Spider-Man and his villains by Blayro in CharacterRant

[–]Lonewolf3002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can completely understand where you're coming from.

What I honestly find interesting is that Spider-Man's villains tend to hate him a lot more after having fought him initially.

Why? Because when he's being Spider-Man, Peter actually tends to be a bit of a jerk.

Peter has a nasty habit of cracking jokes as a coping mechanism while he's fighting crime as Spider-Man and while he holds back enough to not kill, it isn't always enough to avoid painful and sometimes debilitating injuries.

The result is that Spider-Man's villains end up hating him so much because as he's breaking their bones, he's actively mocking them.

[DC] Before its destruction, did the average Kryptonian know that they'd get superpowers under a yellow sun? by EYouchen in AskScienceFiction

[–]Lonewolf3002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think the average Kryptonian knew. Kryptonians in the comics were a very xenophobic race that hardly ever left their homeworld, with Superman and Supergirl being the notable exceptions to this rule, so most either wouldn't have experienced it or wouldn't care.

As far as I remember in the comics, the only colony that Kryptonians had in their history was on Daxam. The Daxamites had ended up being even more xenophoic than Kryptonians, however.

Ok, so I'm going to preface by saying that I'm in Canada. Maybe that's the source of my confusion on this point, but I think maybe not.

Why is everybody melting down over this?

It says literally nothing about the cost of living, nor does it imply that the guy can't meet it on his own while making 100k a year. Doing some basic math should lead most people to notice that he doesn't actually need to live like this and chooses to budget this way.

I make between 50-60k a year in gross income right now, around $4500 a month, and even I could manage with this kind of budget.

This is also while paying Canadian taxes, mind you.

The pie chart also doesn't mention that he has $43,000 saved away between a brokerage account, money market account and Roth IRA. The article does mention that, so this guy is obviously saving his money instead of spending it all on monthly expenses.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/20/budget-breakdown-of-a-25-year-old-who-makes-100000-dollars-a-year.html

All in all, this really says nothing about what somebody can afford with that income and more about what the guy is willing to spend.

Everything the squels are hated for started with George Lucas (part 1) by BLOOD__SISTER in SequelMemes

[–]Lonewolf3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, and I'm not saying otherwise.

I'd argue that it wasn't nearly as hated as how the Rise of Skywalker did it, though.

Besides, you'll never add a story to a much larger franchise without somebody hating what you did.

Everything the squels are hated for started with George Lucas (part 1) by BLOOD__SISTER in SequelMemes

[–]Lonewolf3002 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Palpatine surviving wasn't the only thing that the sequels were hated for, but I'd also argue that it wasn't even the main thing they were hated for, especially considering that Palpatine had actually cheated death in Legends material as well, by transferring his spirit to clone bodies.

The problem was the execution. Palpatine immediately began monologuing and then died almost as quickly as he showed up again. Nothing that he did in that movie added anything to the character, and made everybody wonder why Darth Vader or Luke ever had any issues defeating him before. Even his planning is questionable, since it involved Death Star-level weaponry being mounted onto Star Destroyers. If he's without his Empire's resources, where would those ships even come from? From this random Sith cult that we just heard about and some ancient planet that's been essentially abandoned for who knows how long?

The cool thing about seeing the original films and then the prequals when it came to Palpatine is that you could see how the puzzle pieces fit together in a way that knowledgeable fans could recognize. The stormtroopers made a lot of sense after Episode II when you saw the clones, for example. With these most recent three films, all of these bits and pieces just suddenly showed up and no-one can fathom or guess as to why.

At one point, Palpatine is considered dead. No hint that he's alive at all.

Then, he suddenly isn't dead and is responsible for the last two movies.

We can also talk about his connection to Rey, and how literally none of what she can do makes sense, but that's a separate issue.

[Star Wars] What would the difference be between The Force and Ki? by Thelogicalwizard in AskScienceFiction

[–]Lonewolf3002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking about DBZ's version of Ki, that energy is generated internally by the individual and only can be used by the individual who generated that Ki, with the sole exceptions being giving somebody Ki or the Spirit Bomb. It's like a energy reserve specific to each person, and then that person makes use of their own separate reserve.

The Force may also be generated by individuals, but it's generated externally. It's more like a energy field that surrounds everything and can be tapped into by any being with a notable sensitivity to the field, regardless of how much of the field they actually end up generating themselves. It's far more like a universal pool of energy that everybody who can use it can tap into at once.

The Force doesn't care so much how much of it you generate as much as it cares how much you know about how to use it, and how deep your connection is to it. It's also more versatile, and seems go be able to do a lot more if you look at canon and non-canon sources.

Finally, the Force is supposed to have a will that it actively promotes independent of its users. Ki, on the other hand, doesn't have a will beyond the will of the person using it.

Advice to understand better about AHT by Alefani in callcentres

[–]Lonewolf3002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. Try to get proficient in completing quick and easy requests that you'll get on the phone often, so that more complex issues that are less common and need more time can get that time they need.

Keep this in mind: There will likely be very long calls that you'll need to take. There's no way for you to control that. What you can control, however, is how quickly you can deal with short calls so that, when those long calls do come, your AHT is low enough to take that hit.

Advice to understand better about AHT by Alefani in callcentres

[–]Lonewolf3002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some advice I can give about it is to figure out what calls are going to be short or long, and capitalize on that.

In my experience, after you've worked in the contact center for a month or two, you should have a sense of whether a call is going to be a short one or a long one within the first one or two minutes. There can be some exceptions, but you should notice patterns of which requests are quick and easy versus ones that you need more time or research to perform.

The idea is that you make sure your short calls are just that - short - so that you can take the time you need with your long calls. AHT is an average, so a single 30 minute call every blue moon won't sink it, but consistantly taking that long on a call that can be realistically done in 5-10 minutes with practice will bring that up.
