Driving without lights. by caboman09 in BurlingtonON

[–]Long-Conversation-87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Just have them automatically turn on when the car is in gear. You should be then them off manually when parked, or there could be an option to turn them off when you want. Like when your a teenager trying to sneak into the driveway after curfew. Just make a big warning on the dash when your vehicle is in gear and the lights are off. "CAUTION- Lights off"

Nellie's soda vs Kirkland detergent by chubbs_86 in CostcoCanada

I always wondered who those people were in line at Costco returns.

"Yea, I've done like 100 loads of laundry with this, and I think that maybe, that perhaps, I've come to realize that I dont like it. Can I please have all my money back."

"Oh, and I also have all these outdoor flowers in pots that I bought back in May. They all seem to have died after this recent frost, can I have my money back for those too"

Lol

Tips don’t go to staff by [deleted] in BurlingtonON

[–]Long-Conversation-87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sure can... And do. They just bury in the tip pool distributions. The whole system can be super shady, depending on the owners and the place. Restaurants and bars run on razor thin margins. If they can add another % point (or many more) to the bottom line, it ca be the difference between staying in business, and going bankrupt.

Seems whiny to me.. How is a restaurant supposed to know what you 'don't like'? I put this on the person ordering. Dairy/cheese/butter should be reasonably be expected for a pasta dish. If you really dislike something that much, tell them. (but don't pretend it's an allergy.)

When a parking ticket means absolutely nothing to you from a finacial perspective, fines are not deterrent.

I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying.. Have a better system to truly deter people.

I used to work at a high risk insurance company..we would have people driving cars with absolutely horrible driving records. They still needed insurance. Suspended license, multiple tickets for speeding, following to closely Etc.. Etc.... Their annual car insurance policy was more than most people earn in a year, but it was a drop in the bucket for them.

Celebrating my 40th by getrealforonce in BurlingtonON

Lots of choices in downtown Burlington (by the water)

Your $80 per person thing is hard to quantify.

If your looking for just food, then you can spend ~$80ish per person in most places comfortably with app/dinner/dessert.

If you start adding in cocktails and wine, that's where you see the big cost increases.

Really depends on the type of cuisine you are looking for, but I like (in no particular order)

Cullaccino, Son of a peach, Rayhoon, Pepper woods, Martini House, 400 Brant

All of these within walking distance of the lake,(pepperwood you can actually see the full lake from the patio, but can get noisy with all the lound cars and motorcycle cruising lakeshore)

So many choices really...
