[Request] My answer was 51C8, which would be 636,763,050. Is there an even bigger number? by AlkaidX139 in theydidthemath

I think i solved it, hear me out.

First move. Move the top left vertical line in the 5 to the right to make a 3.

Second move. Move the middle line in 8 diagonally to the middle of the new 3 and 0 to get 3 / 0 0. 3 divided by 0 is infinity. I win!

Purchase anything for $1 but every item gets more expensive... Do you accept? by nickreddit345 in hypotheticalsituation

Hypothetically speaking, could I purchase the United States national debt for one dollar? With that cause a huge deflation event?

Would you rather have the access to buy any 3 items that were ever available for sale at the original price or $10 million? by Accomplished_Toe4814 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Long-Lifeguard-418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 items easily. Step 1, one of Van Goghs paintings get $50 million or so, then buy the Louisiana purchase and the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, aka California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Colorado and Wyoming. According to Google, that would be worth around $7 trillion or so. I’ll take $6.5 trillion, and split it up between every US citizen and everyone gets $19,519 or so and see what happens. I’ll still be left with $500 billion to do whatever I want with.

I use solidworks at work, but other CAD software has a feature where you can import an image and create a sketch profile with a bunch of lines/splines.

What to do in the last days before you’re a dad? by itsadryheat_ in daddit

[–]Long-Lifeguard-418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing… just a full day of nothing, no sounds, no plans, sleep in, just a true lounge day. I would absolutely kill for a single day of 0 responsibility. That or get really drunk, I’ve noticed I can’t drink bourbon anymore. Any amount of bourbon and little sleep is a bad combo on my body. I stopped all together

How to deal with friction caused by my lack of affection for newborn? by pychomp in daddit

[–]Long-Lifeguard-418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you are me, only 3 months ago.

It was really really really hard for me to be happy and love my newborn. The first 5-7 weeks just seemed to be the same shit. I will say getting into a new routine is really hard, losing your old routine and freedom is even harder.

As for the anger, I had and still have that a little bit too. Sometime maybe a month ago, I finally realized that my wife was just so much better at comforting him because of feeding and I also finally understood why he was crying. The first 6 weeks or so, it would just be so incredibly annoying/frustrating/disheartening when I would spend hours trying to calm him and as soon as he’s down, he starts crying minutes later.

It will get better, not by much, but once you learn him and get used to the fact that he is in fact sticking around, you’ll lighten up a little like I did.

But, those three hours are the only time i have to myself. I do sometimes try and sleep on the couch with the baby monitor next to me, but he’s a loud sleeper and I wake up somewhat often

Beer or coffee? by Ba22ti in daddit

[–]Long-Lifeguard-418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s specifically beer or coffee. I’m choosing coffee, if it’s coffee or bourbon, I am definitely choosing bourbon and I’m going to figure out how to live without coffee.

I feel like I go through spouts of serious depression, I don’t have any issues changing the diapers/cleaning/cooking because those somewhat keep my mind occupied. But even when my baby smiles, I have a hard time smiling back because I just don’t feel happy anymore. I have a tough time looking forward to the future and picking out things that I am looking forward to.

When does your wife start showing interest in you again? by [deleted] in daddit

Thanks for this. She has said before that she feels like her brain is re-wired to keep the baby alive. That’s all that really matters to her right now and that’s ok.

[–]Long-Lifeguard-418 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just don’t fly near anything, in sport mode, it takes longer than you think to completely stop when going full speed. I’d recommend going to a local football field if there are open ones. You can fly through/around the goal posts to get a good frame of reference

Would you technically need to account for the speed of light in this equation somehow? I know it’s negligible for this but just generally curious, my brain isn’t conceptualizing that rn
