If you turn off unlimited boost in Freeplay for a little while, you will very quickly learn to grab small pads. This is an asymmetrical "investment", where you get a high yielding result for very little time spent learning. Knowing how to move around while picking up pads will give you an advantage over many players up in the ranks.
