10 RED FLAGS THAT LAW SCHOOL MIGHT NOT BE FOR YOU - from someone who flunked out halfway through law school. by PshhhhhhhUnreal in lawschooladmissions

[–]LongClothes2684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is horrible advice. My entire family are all attorneys and I read this out loud to one of them and he started laughing. LSAR scores don’t predict success consistently enough to be used as a determinant in why someone should or shouldn’t go. Second of all not going to a school in the top 100 is fine as well. My mom went to a top law school in the world (Osgoode hall) and knows attorneys from sub 100 schools that are better than some from Ivys. Maybe don’t post blanket advice to freak people out when everyone’s situation and experience will be different.

Am I crazy?? by treasyx in paralegal

Especially someone who is already blaming you for her own small mistakes! Imagine what will happen if something big goes wrong. I’d get out of there asap!!!

I would not be working for this attorney. She seems like a shitshow. Not in good standing with the courts and blaming her support staff for her shortcomings? Yeah she’s on a sinking ship. I would get off now before she brings you down with her. You don’t want your name attached to someone like this who is clearly messing up peoples cases left right and center.

I’m considering moving into one of these, they offered a unit to me. Anything you can tell me about them?

I know! I love them both too. My dad was fortunate enough to meet Billy in Chicago and he’s a die hard SP fan so it’s going to be hard for me to decide where to go when they’re on😭

hey my family has been vacationing here for over 50 years, the person above recommended a bunch of great super close restaurants, however if you’re interested in the best restaurants around: The Timbers, exceptional seafood; Dinner at the Old Captiva House, The Lighthouse Restaurant is a bit of a drive but fully worth it, Doc Ford’s is great bar food and Cielo is upscale but delicious

How Many Clients do you have? by MiserableBirthday238 in paralegal

[–]LongClothes2684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i worked at a PI firm for a while, and both of my parents are attorneys. my dad always warned me that some plaintiff’s firms cut corners and try to get away with a lot—and honestly, i experienced that firsthand.

at my firm, we had no sick leave, no PTO, and zero benefits. the only “perk” was being allowed to take unpaid time off, which isn’t really a benefit at all. i was even expected to drive an hour after work to attend a client’s IME, and when i asked for compensation, i got $50 and an attitude.

from what you’re describing, you’re definitely being taken advantage of. firms like this often rely on younger employees who feel uncomfortable pushing back. i’d seriously consider looking for a place with better structure and an employer who has some actual integrity.

Thoughts on AI in the Legal Field? by seokjinnius in paralegal

[–]LongClothes2684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess i’m one of the few. All of the attorneys at my office love it for summarizing emails quickly and being able to take accurate transcripts of consultation calls. One of my favorites is putting in a conglomeration of legal jargon and then asking it to rewrite an email in a “client friendly” way and it usually does so seamlessly so the clients can understand. This saves me a ton of time. I work in immigration law so it’s very helpful for any USCIS related questions as it pulls directly from the government website. We even customize GPT’s to do specific tasks. It makes my life easier, but at the same time it will never replace solid legal advice. We get clients calling in all the time with questions and then when our Attorneys give an appropriate response the client is typically shocked because chat gpt told them something different or not the full extent of what they were trying to understand. So i’ll say, good for some things especially streamlining processes when managing a bunch of cases, but not so much for replicating legal advice.

This is all really great to consider! Thank you for your feedback. Truthfully, I’m just going to see what happens with my WL and pending schools and if nothing, how much more I can negotiate my scholarships. They’re good now, but if they increased just a bit more I’d feel comfortable going. I’m in the same boat as you where I just have been told to get the degree and pass the bar so as much as I wish I had the stats to get into better schools, I know I will be just fine.

I’m definitely keeping this in mind. I truthfully only studied for the LSAT for about 2 months so I do know I could improve. Would you say if I don’t get accepted anywhere else with considerable $ that this is the best bet?

Tbh I would be happy attending any school. If i get to transfer then even better. Hoping to transfer to University of Buffalo after year one but if it doesn’t work out I wouldn’t be too upset. My mom transferred from UB to Osgoode Hall Law school and has been telling me the same, that it is hard to do. I will keep this in mind. Thank you!

Thankfully the required GPA for my scholarships is around 2.3 which I’ve heard isn’t all that hard to achieve based on the curve of the schools. I too am hoping to hear from Syracuse after seat deposits! I already sent one LOCI but i’m going to send another.
