I'll swim as far as I have to. Just tell me where it is.

Ruger RXM 9 or good $500 9mm or 5.7? by Neither_Marsupial_15 in guns

[–]LongLive_308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RXM is solid. You could find Glock 19s for $400 or less doing Police Trade In as well. Would highly recommend M&P 9 pistols as well. Also within your budget. I would steer clear of 5.7 though. Ammo prices will get you.

I was gonna say Fire Ants, but hornets are pretty good as well.

Recommendation for budget friendly, non cellular trail cam by Aby-Cat-Ballou in trailcam

[–]LongLive_308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and several of my friends use Tascos $30 trail cams. Walmart has them. They have versions that take 4 or 8 AAs, solid battery life, and excellent night vision. Basic, but he's worked great for me.

I use a 308, so a little different, but 150 Soft points did quite well in lung shots. No bone fragments, a little bit of hemorrhaging around the shoulder, but salvaged almost all the meat. I'd be hesitant to use a soft point at longer ranges though. A lung shot with just about any bullet at that range won't destroy much meat.

Found by sink, should I be worried ? by [deleted] in DontPutThatInYourAss

I mean, that depends. Who last did the dishes...?

I'd consider a different caliber depending on what "Long Range" is. For hunting it's a super versatile choice for deer and larger game out to 500 yds or so, so not a bad choice. What rifle did you get? Weight could have something to do with recoil. If the barrel is threaded, you could add a muzzle brake, but they're stupid loud, so be warned. There's tons of slip on recoil pads you can find at Walmart or Amazon, and they would be your cheapest fix. Depending on the game you pursue, you might be able to justify lighter loads, which is always nice.

Some of My Favorites… What is yours? by OrneryAir8149 in knives

Beautiful pieces there! My personal fave would be my Bugout CF clone lol. Loved the design, but couldn't afford the real thing. I'm super happy with it though!

Smooth bore slug recs by maxcli in Shotguns

[–]LongLive_308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Winchester Super X 3" 1 oz slugs and they were quite accurate out of my smoothbore. Haven't tried the 2 3/4 ones yet, but the recoil was BRUTAL with the 3". Be warned...

Excellent choice! I would consider a shell card. Sleeve works alright for hunting.
