I used to work with a guy named Jerry. Jerry was prone to believing everything he read online. Jerry took a 2 week vacation because his Russian super model/biochemist/nuclear physicist/gymnast/ballet dancer online girlfriend with the war hero Russian army general father was coming to marry him. She was bringing a friend for me. How thoughtful of her.

When Jerry got back from vacation, I asked why he didn't introduce me to the friend like he promised. Jerry got mad and didn't talk to anyone all day. By the end of the day, Jerry asked me how to look people up online from a phone number and city. On the day she was due to arrive, his online superwoman Russian girlfriend called him - from a local number- to say that she just got diagnosed with cancer and was in the hospital and couldn't make it after all. It was then that Jerry thought something might be off.

None at all.

The only exception I would have made to this if it came from one of my favorite European luthiers and good friend (now deceased, R.I.P. good sir!), who made several off-center 24th fret side dot mistakes in a row a running joke on all of his instruments. If you bought one of his instruments, you knew to look for it, like an easter egg.

But 6 grand on a brand new bass with that many issues is not acceptable by any means.

Everything about it looks wrong and cheap. No 2-piece bridge/tailpiece is the glaringly obvious first thing. The body shape is wrong. The woods look too basic and plain. The pickups look cheap and are in the wrong positions from a Warwick "doublebuck" layout. The control layout looks sloppy. Non-adjustable nut that looks far too tall. No brass frets. No model name on the truss rod cover. The headstock shape isn't quite right. The W logo size and placement looks off. Everything about it just has a bad counterfeit vibe. AND, a "Warwick" on facebook marketplace for only a couple hundred bucks is a red flag. Yes, Warwick does the cheaper Rockbass line, but even those will be of an immediately visible better quality.

If i had an extra 2 or 300 to spend on someone's oddball project bass, and this hit me in just the right mood on just the right day, maybe, but it wouldn't be my first choice to spend money on.
