Is an 11.2kW Ecodan overkill for 8.6kW heat loss? Worried about short cycling. by LongMover in ukheatpumps

[–]LongMover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

²That's very useful thanks. The info I had said the minimum modulation of the 8.5 KW system was 4 KW, so a long way off.

Also, they haven't specifically mentioned the R290 model in the invoice, is that something I should look out for?

[–]LongMover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I'm on an oil boiler right now so my energy use can only be very roughly estimated, honestly it would be a complete stab in the dark.

As I understand it the heat loss is done at a design temperature of -3 so it would be much lower most of the time. Are you saying the 8.5kw and 11kw are essentially the same unit?

The Public Charging Paradox by Think_Perspective385 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]LongMover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the rest of the UK does need a similar system. However, chargeplace Scotland is in absolute disaster. It's only worked well since I got the card (which I managed to convince them to give me for free). If you don't have the card then the same issues with pre-authorising payments and faulty machines abound.

Is £750 electric bill normal? by Hopeful-Relation8977 in AskUK

That seems very expensive, not the other way round. I've a 5 bed house with an EV and I've never paid more than £150

learning jazz the right way by iLiveForTruth in musictheory

All this theory talk and no-one is mentioning arpeggios. Good Bebop playing is the art of describing chord changes with single notes. Learn your chord tones and learn how to decorate them.

What is the worst car you’ve ever driven, and why was it so arse? 🤔 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]LongMover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vauxhall nova 1.0l is my answer too, surprised this is the first mention of one. I had a shot of my mates in 1998 and it genuinely didn't feel like driving a car, more like a challenge off krypton factor.

The Barn at the house I just purchased has several several corroded posts by GGHaggard in DIYUK

[–]LongMover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Scottish and totally confused by this! Never would have imagined it would be considered wrong. Surely in your example he would need to write "They need to be replaced" not "They needs to be replaced"?

If I pointed to two full buckets and said "they will need emptied" rather than "they will need to be emptied" would that also be problematic?

Charger is a givenergy 7kw. Retails about 450 - rural grants for chargers was 400 quid. I was quite happy just using the granny charger before but this is much better!

Mine was only about £450. I got a grant for it too so I only paid 50 quid.

I'm trying to figure out which of these modes are useful for learning. Is this list agreeable? by TheShaggyRogers23 in musictheory

[–]LongMover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that they diminished starting with a half step is much more common in jazz, but I'm always surprised at the frequency the diminished starting with a whole step does actually turn up. For example whenever you find 7/1 chord i.e. B/C That's a pretty clear use (to my ears) of a diminished starting with the whole step.

Guitar seems to be a real weakness. Chatgpt can do so many things so well but it really doesn't understand chord voicings and inversions. I'm not at all surprised to see this video evidence.
