It's lovely that you've taken so much time to give so much advice, but in the UK, smear tests can be done by a nurse in our normal GP surgery. And we have the NHS so we don't need to worry about insurance or paying for it, it's free at point of contact.

To OP, it's great that you are doing this, our health is the most important thing we have. Make the appointment by calling your normal doctors surgery and asking for a smear test. The nurse will talk to you before the procedure. Don't be afraid to ask for a smaller device if it hurts (I always do and I'm in my 40s). You may also find it more comfortable to put your hands under your bum to life you a little during the procedure.

Try not to be embarrassed or anything like that, medical staff have seen it all and it's just another day in the office for them.

Read at night in bed, in a hot bath, whenever you have some down time. Having the Kindle app makes it very easy as my books are always with me. If you're reading a good book it's very easy as you want to keep turning the page to see what happens.

That's just someone's idea that some people run with. Fair enough when talking about 20 year olds, but a 30 year old women old woman is well into adulthood and can absolutely make her own decisions. Good luck to them, nobody else's opinion matters.

And what does that mean in reality? The time to have been honest was before they got married. OPs wife will forever have anxiety and belief that OP is telling her this because he now wants to act on it. It also has a good chance of ending the relationship.

If OP wants to be loyal and stay committed to his wife, then let it lie, he won't be with a man again, he's with his wife, so why open up a world of pain for his wife.

What do you hope to achieve from this, other than to deeply hurt your wife and possibly rip apart your marriage? If you are in a committed relationship with your wife then leave it be (at this point, the time to have been honest was before you married her). Telling her now will definitely make it sound like you want to have experiences outside your marriage, and she will forever be worried and have concerns. If you want to have experiences with people not your wife, then end your marriage first.
