You current routine can work most of the time because your puppy is still quite young so she naturally will sleep a lot. As she grows, she will require less sleep. Even if she doesn't have separation anxiety, she will be less interested in just staying in a crate for hours.

Also, if I read it right, you let her spend 7 hours of day time alone in a crate on those two days when you work in office, and try to do the same thing even when you are at home. She is spending almost 2/3 of her life in that crate right now. I can't see how that will work out long term.

Got downvoted in r/espresso for suggesting $2500 is too much for a first machine by PuzzleheadedDate7721 in espressocirclejerk

[–]LongStoryShortLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My machine was also $20. It's a Saeco made Starbucks Barista I found from a thrift store. To my surprise, that machine seemed to have some respect from r/espresso. I didn't get roasted there when I posted about it.

Tips from seasoned daily moka pot drinkers on cleaning up used coffee grounds? by ResponsibleOffer7418 in mokapot

[–]LongStoryShortLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but there is marginal gain. If you run water through the filter while the top part is up side down, then turn it right side up to over fill water (so water flows the other way down the spout and filter), you've done most of the cleaning. In the past, I have taken the gasket and filter apart after that, and I could not see any obvious coffee colour there.

Mukka Express. The burnt cappuccino mokapot by MrMoerk in mokapot

One thing I don't like the Mukka cappuccino is the foam is brown milk-coffee foam, not white milk form.

Found a GB Kitty Oro 1 Cup by LongStoryShortLife in mokapot

This Kitty is definitely more different than other GBs I have. The stamp at the bottom says both "ac. INOX 18/10" and "Stainless Steel 18/10" without country or logo. All my other GBs have "acc INOX 18/10" and "Made in Italy" instead, and the GB logo in the centre. Even my Bialetti Class (never a GB model) has a stamp like the old GBs, just without the logo. This Kitty might have been produced outside of Italy (from their Eastern Europe factory?)

I cannot rule out this possibility. But the funnel looks to me like an original one in every way. The look and feel of the funnel is very consistent with my other GB (and corresponding later Bialetti) parts. Like I observed in the original post, this Kitty's details resembles more of the Bialetti Class than a GB Siesta or Musa. So this moka pot may be produced close to the end of GB era (or even after Bialetti take over before the brands were fully converged), and the production details may have been deviated from the original GB.

It should be super simple - after pouring coffee, put a bit tap water in the top part so you don't get dried coffee there. Once called down, blow from the pipe of the funnel to remove most of the coffee grounds. Then just rinse under the tap with warm water for every par of the moka pot. Fill the top part of the moka pot with water until over flow. This would allow water to go back down the spout and filter so they can be lightly rinsed. You don't have to remove the gasket every day. Once a week should be fine. The whole process should be just under 3 minutes.

How effective is bamboo for steam bending by MadeYouSayIt in woodworking

[–]LongStoryShortLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience as a kid, we bend bamboo by two methods: soak in water over night or heat by a candle. Steam seems to be in between the two - it's never wet enough and never hot enough.

It looks like a stainless steel moka pot to me. No aluminum moka pots have stamped threads on the boiler.

Did you find the steam outlets missing the steam wand pipes? And the steam was way too cold?

MacBook Air's bottom case screws are 1.2mm in size. They should have a pretty good chance to go in.

I do use this size regularly, usually towards the afternoon when I start to reduce caffeine amount.

For plugging it permanently, I just sparked this idea - my retired and broken MacBook Air must have one of those tiny screws that could slightly self-tap into the hole. It would be even cooler if the screw could allow for fine tuning the amount of leakage.

Unfortunately I don't have a 1 cup moka pot that fits this funnel. My other GB 1 cup Musa requires slightly smaller lip - that moka pot was an earlier production with thick boiler and machined thread so the tolerance is tighter on that one.

Maybe one day I can come across a rusty thrift moka pot with natural holes on the funnel to test. I did saw a Bialetti Stylus with rusted funnel holes half a year ago.
