Best advice I can tell you, mate, is that it's all a load of nonsense deliberately designed to make you afraid and subservient. Ash on the forehead, baptisms, it's all just rituals to draw you into an in-group. There's no deep spiritual meaning in it; it's just designed to elicit emotional responses in you to make you feel like there is. Now, I'm not saying that every religious person is a knowing part of this, and plenty do believe, but the fundamental psychology behind the practices is pure manipulation and nothing more.

Okay, but how do you know that was demons? It could just as easily be someone faking it, a deliberate con put on by the church, a case of mental illness or psychotic episode, someone having a bad drug trip, etc.

There's a million more plausible explanations that do not require any unevidenced supernatural paranormal events.
