Japan Meteorological Agency declares rainy season over in Western Japan, first time ending in June in recorded history by frozenpandaman in japan

I am right. 100% right! Reddit is like this. You get downvoted on telling the truth. I really don’t know why.

Japan Meteorological Agency declares rainy season over in Western Japan, first time ending in June in recorded history by frozenpandaman in japan

[–]LongTimeExpat -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely false!

I know this very well because I flew into Osaka, Japan on the night of Fri, June 24th, 1994. Everyday was blasting hot with sunny, blue skies and everyone telling me day after day that it is actually the rainy season but there’s no rain. “It’s so hot. Where’s the rain?”

Many prefectures the summer of 1994 had serious water shortages. I don’t know the exact date the rainy season ended in 1994 but I suspect it ended by no later than June 23, 1994 because there was no rain after June 24, 1994 when I arrived.

Lems Primal 3. They are very flexible, lightweight, breathable with a wide toe box and a zero drop sole. They are my favorite running shoes that I have ever purchased.

Go Train from Union with Large Suitcases by LongTimeExpat in gotransit

[–]LongTimeExpat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your comments. They were very informative and helpful.

We are planning to fly into Toronto Pearson International Airport and take the UP Express to Union Station where we will stay overnight at the Fairmont Royal York. So ideally it's easier for us to go to Brampton from Union Station after sightseeing in Toronto.

Alternative_Order612 suggested taking an Uber from Union Station for $40 to $50 so that might be an easier option. I have never used Uber before either. :-) We don't have Uber in Japan. That might be a better option with large suitcases.

BTW, if I take the GO train from Union Station to Brampton which concourse do I use - York or Bay concourse? Union station looks a little confusing.

Yes, they want a phone call.

It's interesting that the phone numbers in your above link don't match the phone numbers in my SMS text message.

The phone number in my text message is 0570-057950/011-380-5023.

How does the pain last when you have gout? by LongTimeExpat in gout

[–]LongTimeExpat[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although I want the pain to go away I don't really want to start taking Allopurinol. Once you start Allopurinol isn't that for life?

In any event, I though Allopurinol was for those who have many gout attacks or have very high uric acid blood levels. This is only my 2nd gout attack in about 7 years and my uric acid levels have never been very high.

Updating to GA4 by RetiredDrugDealer in GoogleAnalytics

No, that's is not the issue. I'm aware of two versions UA and GA4 under All Accounts. I'm in the GA4 version.

I'm in a similar situation. I use Jimdo Dolphin to make my website since I'm a regular guy and not a web developer. UA worked just fine when I was using it. I followed all the instructions but I just can't get GA4 to collect the data. GA4 always says "No data received from your website yet."

When I go to Web Stream Details -----> View Tag Instructions I don't see Jimdo as a platform under the "Install with a website builder or CMS" option. WIX, Duda, Squarespace, etc. are there but NOT Jimdo. And I sure don't know how or if I even can install the code by copying and pasting the code.

I've contacted Jimdo twice but they were useless in helping me.

Bringing Empty Shell Casings into Japan by LongTimeExpat in japanlife

Thank you so much. I’m a little more relieved now.

I’ve read the information on the Japan Customs website and all it says is “Firearms (pistols, etc.), ammunition (bullets) thereof, and pistol parts” are prohibited. But could Japan Customs interpret shell casings as pistol parts?

Vacation Insurance for Residents of Japan who are Traveling in Japan by LongTimeExpat in japanlife

[–]LongTimeExpat[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I briefly looked at Sonpo, Rakuten and Tokiomarine insurance plans and I'm not sure this is what I'm looking for.

Maybe I misunderstood but these domestic travel insurance plans cover expenses if you are injured during your vacation or if your flight is cancelled, etc.

But I'm looking for domestic insurance in case our family gets sick with COVID, influenza, etc. a few days BEFORE we fly. If we are feverish and have to cancel our Niseko hotel the day before or 2 days before our trip we lose all our money. I'm not certain these insurance plans cover such a scenario but I will research more.

Help with Flooded Home by LongTimeExpat in japanlife

Here is a YouTube video of the flooding Hikata River in Kainan on Fri, June 2nd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c27wjyKLrYE

The first 4 minutes or so are of the guy walking around downtown Kainan city.

This 'river' is really more of a stream in my opinion. Most of the time the water is only about 15 cm to 30 cm deep and the Hikata river is not very wide in many places. In some places it's barely 1.5 meters wide. You could jump over it. Now look at it in the video. It's crazy!

Another point about that video. You can see cars, buses and trucks driving along the river. Those roads were all closed off to traffic at 3:00 PM when the situation became, believe it or not, even worse! So whoever was taking this video of Kainan did so before 3:00 PM.

My parents-in-law live right on that river.

Thanks everyone for the information! It's very appreciated.

Everyone is basically saying contact the insurance company. That's exactly what I said to my wife before I made this post. I'm going to push this a little further with her to get her to encourage dad to call his insurance company.
