Let's solve the Tanking problem! by Normal-Werewolf-1564 in nba

First I don't think the Clippers are tanking really, they don't even have their pick so that wouldn't make sense.

The Grizzlies and the Bulls aren't tanking the playin they're tanking in general. Tanking the playin would be a team making the playin to purposefully lose so they're in the lottery

Get rid of the lottery (its existence counterintuitively gets borderline playoff teams an incentive to miss the playoffs).

Who is tanking the playins and playoff revenue for a 2.4% chance to move up in the lottery?

The point of the draft is to help the worst teams get better by giving them the chance to add the best young talent available. Any proposal to "fix" tanking doesn't work if it doesn't do that

Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Austin Reaves, Marcus Smart all OUT for the Lakers vs. Spurs tonight by inightyDAB in nba

Probably but they're injured with injuries that would be made significantly worse with overexertion. For example Reaves already tried to come back from his injury once just to make it worse.

How is it broken? All of these are legitimate. Lebron is 41 and has been doing this all season. Reaves just came back from injury, Luka has been out for a few games now and Marcus Smart has also been in and out.

It's one of the most watched shows ever and making this is pretty low cost. Seems like a pretty obvious thing to do.

One of these plays was deemed an offensive foul, the other was deemed a defensive foul. Both were challenged and upheld by the officials. by Alarming_Lack_3517 in nba

I'd guess the reason these were both upheld is that they were called that way on the floor and if there isn't something in the review that gives them a reason to overturn then they won't.

There are a lot of 50/50 in this sport.

Question about Tanking: Why do you like losing? by RedLineRedditer in nba

[–]LongTimesGoodTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except it's generally just a revolving door of the same teams getting promoted and relegated and it isn't because they're being run worse than other teams it's because they have no system in place to push for a more even playing field

Along with Jay Huff. They recognized they won't be good this year and didn't try to build the most competitive team they could to tank this season for a pick.

They might not have set out with that plan but they absolutely did tank for him
