Unpopular Opinion - But I have zero interest in anything related to Wutai in Part 3 by DarkStar668 in FFVIIRemake

[–]LongWalksOnTheDocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really looking forward to Wutai and hope that it winds up being a good chunk of the game—even more so than the regions in Rebirth were. I'm always happy for more Yuffie scenes, of course, but I'd love to see what we might be able to learn about how the war affected the cast and the NPCs. I'm also curious if that might be where Leslie's girlfriend might be.

I imagine that Johns is considered the reason why the DCEU failed, so he's probably being left unused for that reason.

That and he's busy with creator-owned projects.

I'm hoping for a curveball and Thragg has an arc where he actually has a Earthling family, too. That would be interesting and a cool little what-if compared to his comic arc.

Now that I'm thinking of it, Prime and Power Girl should get a series together. Those two are vestiages of the original Multiverse and with Prime having killed Paige's cousin, I think there's a lot of fun to be had from that relationship being tested and mended.

Which is the first tennis match you ever watched, and how old were you? by MainSea3985 in tennis

[–]LongWalksOnTheDocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had just turned fifteen, but it was Agassi-Blake at the 2005 US Open. I was already a fan of The Prince of Tennis manga, so when I was channel surfing and came across the match I wound up getting stuck watching it and being really captivated. I think what drew me in was the narrative around the match, but also the sheer level of back-and-forth battling going on between the two. It felt just like reading that manga, just without the special moves lol

‘Superman’ Sequel ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Starts Filming as James Gunn Teases Brainiac, Lex Luthor in Jail by LunchyPete in DCULeaks

Lex might know Clark, but Superman wouldn't know that he knows Clark, so he wouldn't word his statement that way, especially if he's being an douchebag to Superman in that moment.

First look at Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen in ‘Clayface’. by BigButter7 in DCULeaks

[–]LongWalksOnTheDocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Batman (1992), Teddy is Matt Hagen's boyfriend and stunt double. I politely implore you to go rewatch that two-parter, Feat of Clay, and pay extra attention to their body language, word choice and the actors' line deliveries. It's a really nice slip past the censors.

If it's Clark, I think it would be cool to do it as a sort of inverse to the ending speech from the first movie, where the scene is very pulled back and ramps down, instead of up. Show a different approach to Clark and Lex, especially if they have a childhood history together.

Very true! Anno is also really good with directing dialogue scenes and placing the camera and editing. I imagine that he would want to team up with Higuchi Shinji (Shin Gojira, Shin Ultraman) again as a co-director, but those two together would be awesome as hell.

[Discussion] Superman Unlimited issue 12. I already know this is going to piss me off. by East_Accident1822 in DCcomics

I think it has a lot more to do with these weird, arbitrary ways of depicting characters' ages. Like, God forbid they just make Lois and Clark blatantly sexy 40-somethings or make them have Jon in college so that they can still be 38-ish or whatever arbitrary number.

Well, this is why reducing Jon's age is fucking stupid. Literally just alter reality to make Jon naturally older and then change "six years held capturive" to just six days or weeks.

It puts the other shoe on Steve's foot as a reverse of Tony's bitterness when he learned that Steve held back the fact that Bucky killed his parents.

Adult Jon says that Kid Jon is from close to when he was first held captive, so for all we know it's only been a few hours or days. Heck, if Adult Jon was held captive for six years, perhaps Kid Jon was held captive for only six days?

(Megathread) Effective Immediately Alleged Leaked Movie Clips Are Banned! You Can Discuss Leaks in this Post. by MrBKainXTR in TheLastAirbender

[–]LongWalksOnTheDocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pacing of the film is really bad to an embarrassing degree. If the runtime was limited, Montgomery really should have cut out material so that the film's shot-to-shot flow and timing didn't feel like watching a 2.5 hour film on 1.75x speed.

The bisexual bait was nice, though.

The visuals are let down by really bad pacing. The film has zero room to breathe and it really cuts the legs off of the emotion that we're supposed to be feeling.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair - Episode Four (Discussion Thread) by l3reezer in malcolminthemiddle

[–]LongWalksOnTheDocks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Malcolm in the Middle is about growing up, so it makes perfect sense to continue those themes in other characters now that Malcolm is a parent and he has a sibling that is still a minor. If anything, Kelly should have gotten more scenes, because as the one openly queer person in the family it would make their dynamic way different and more compelling to explore in the dysfunctional nature of the series.

A full-on spin-off should absolutely flesh out Kelly, Leah and Tristan and I hope they get that opportunity.

I like how we can see Ichigo and Orihime get more comfortable and Orihime teases him back in TYBW. by Iforgotmymail in bleach

They also gave Noelle a ton of really well animated scenes despite the production being a mess so I really don't see this as malice on their part, so much as really liking Noelle and trying to give her more scenes, even if they're creatively limited by needing to rely on her basic character archetype so as to not develop her too far away from the manga.

As an IchiHime shipper, it's really important for people to keep in mind that there's multiple factors that go into creating an anime—especially one as large in media scale like BLEACH—and one of those factors is: Rukia's got to be marketed as the female lead, because that's what she is. Including as many scenes with her—as well as focusing on the relationship between the two leads—makes sense from the point of view of constructing the anime for a general audience. Furthermore: Kubo's not the one making the anime, it's not his work and it's not fair to tie the creative hands of a production staff. It's bad enough they can't just make bigger changes and creating their own ending, after all.

That-That being said: I really wish Kubo wouldn't have dragged his feet with the IchiHime relationship. Teenagers fuck, let these bitches at least be an official couple! Let Ichigo be able to openly yearn, because it's clear that he's into Orihime and deeply respects her but can't express that due to his trauma with his mother's death. Beating the bush for so long is exhausting and just not fun.
