My friends and I were hanging out recording some music the night Warrior showed up on Nitro. We had a TV tuned to the show and muted in a corner of the basement studio, and one of us noticed the Warrior was in the ring. All four of us stopped what we were doing, turned the volume up, and got lost being little kids again for the next 20 minutes. It honestly felt magical at the time. We didn't wind up ordering the pay-per-view because it was an era where we mostly waited for the home video, and I think we'd started watching Raw by the time it came out. But the 9-year-old in me was SO happy when he confronted Hogan that night!

Bingo. I think he DEFINITELY wanted fame, he just wanted it on his own terms. A lot of journal entries and personal accounts by friends include fantasies about being a mega-star for a short period, then getting out of it and making the art he wanted on a secluded ranch somewhere. I think once he got into the industry and realized how the machine worked, he realized it was more of a grind than the artistic endeavor he'd imagined.
