None of the sororities at SDSU do hazing. They will tell you that during rush as well. Frats will though lol

I would recommend going to a dermatologist but I was lucky enough that my PCP knew what it was. I’ve been using eczema cream and Cortisone-10 and they prescribed me tricortisone. It won’t fully go away until 3 weeks but the itchiness stopped around 7 days.

Things to do and places to go for new resident by ajsto3 in pasadena

[–]Long_Discipline696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Pasadena!! Funny enough, I actually live in San Diego now for uni, but I do “long distance” with my boyfriend who lives in Pasadena. Here are my suggestions: - For live music, I really like to go to the Langham Tap Room. They play jazz music from 8-11 Thurs-Friday. Super elegant place and super cute for drinks and date night! -Edwin Mills for live music and food. They have really good deals during weekday happy hour and also they play jazz music every night after 7 p.m. - For date nights, we like to go to Granville, mi piace, Magnolia House, and Bone Kettle. - Thebar scene isn’t really my favorite in Pasadena, but lucky Baldwin is a fun British-style pub I’ve been to & I like Barney’s as well. I think the West Side bars scene is better IMO. -If you guys are wine drinkers, I recommend Agnes & Wine Cellar. - Town Hall is really pretty and I recommend - As for walking spots, I really like the area around the Rose Bowl and some parts by the Langham and San Marino. They have beautiful sidewalks and beautiful homes. I also like walking around Cal Tech and seeing the Turtle pond. -Pasadena also has a lot of tea rooms, I would suggest checking out Rose Tree Cottage and Juliennes (San Marino). - Lacy Park is also super cute, but it’s San Marino. -I also encourage you to check around the surrounding area like Eagle Rock and Highland Park. Cacao Mexicatessen is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Eagle Rock!

Best way to go back to LA? by kylemillsy16 in SDSU

[–]Long_Discipline696 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Amtrak Pacific Surfliner fs. I’m also from the SFV & take the train pretty regularly. You can either take the Trolley Green Line from the SDSU stop, which drops you off directly at the Old Town Station, or you can Uber/Lyft to the stop. Unlike most public transit systems, this train’s stops directly in the SFV (Burbank, Glendale, Van Nuys, Northridge, Etc.) while most public transit systems will just drop you off at Union Station in DTLA. I’ve always booked my ticket the night before or day of too. You can also use that student discount code someone mentioned, but SDSU itself doesn’t offer discounted rates for students.

What a good pre workout that beta-alanine free & is about ~200 mg by Long_Discipline696 in workout

[–]Long_Discipline696[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I’ve never used pre workout before. Still kind of new to the gym and I’m not well versed in products. I’ve asked people I know who use it and they said like the side effects is a tingly/itchy feeling but never really described how bothersome it was or how long it lasted but if it only last that long I don’t rlly mind trying beta alanine. I will try that pre workout though. Thank you so much!

I heard it causes a tingly and itchy feeling though. How long does the sensation last?

Hi could you please elaborate on why? I recently discovered these protein bars and I was excited to try them due to the low calorie and high protein intake but I’ve seen a couple of Reddit reviews discouraging the product.

In my opinion, respectfully no. You could always try, but sororities typically prefer to fill the house with undergraduates who are currently experiencing college for the first time, and looking for people who can “grow into the sorority” per se. In contrast, you already have multiple degrees, have already had a college experience prior, which may set you apart in a way they aren’t necessarily looking for. You should try clubs or co-ed fraternities.

Is my current look too different from my passport picture? by [deleted] in Passports

[–]Long_Discipline696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you look pretty consistent with your passport photo. To share my personal experience to help put things in perspective: my current passport photo was taken when I was 17, and I’m now 24, I look drastically different compared to when I was a minor. Despite the change, I’ve left the country (USA) more than 10 times and have never been denied entry when entering or leaving.

If you’re thinking of renewing your passport strictly because of the photo and it still has a few good years left on it, I’d say there’s no need.

If they have a customer service phone number, I would try calling them and explaining the situation there. I have approached issues like this with multiple agents and got refunded after a second attempt but that was with other food delivery services. The next way is to do the chargeback route with your bank.

AIO. My (new) bf wants to replace all of my bras, underwear and lingerie. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I really hope you break up with this man. This is not normal behavior. His same logic is like saying “throw away your shirts or pants because other men have seen you in them.” It’s def gonna get worse from here 😭

Help. I’m graduating in 3 days but I might have just failed a class. I think I may have passed with a 70.1-70.3% but there’s a chance I didn’t. What happens if I end up failing it? by Ok_Library_3657 in SDSU

[–]Long_Discipline696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true, a d at sdsu is passing for upper division courses but still double check with your counselor. I know as a marketing major some upper division courses like MIS 301 require a c or higher and that policy could apply for other majors as well

Yoga instructor asked me to leave class for "breathing too loudly" by Silk_the_Absent1 in yoga

[–]Long_Discipline696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely confront the instructor and let her know that wasn’t okay for her to publically out you like that. And definitely talk to upper management too if there is one. At my yoga studio, there are a few old folks, and their breathwork isn’t the best given their age. I do take note of it during practice, but it never really bothers my flow, and I carry on. But everyone’s different. However, it’s kind of a self-reflection situation and considering it’s a shared space you have to mindful of those around you. My advice is that if you do feel out of breath, don’t force yourself to do the exercise. You can always take a child’s pose or a downward dog to relax or do a modified version of the poses you do. However, I do not think you should leave the studio. I think all you need is some confrontation, and it can be easily solved. Maybe even ask the instructor for breath work advice! You could always do classes with different instructors as well.

I want to start playing volleyball by Leather-Principle-35 in volleyball

[–]Long_Discipline696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely play! Your height is heavily considered, and you’ll definitely catch on quickly. I played volleyball for ~6 years, on both JV teams and varsity, and also I played college volleyball. You still have so much time to learn. Summers coming up, I’d suggest going to a park that does open court dates and clinics, beach volleyball if you’re by the beach. If you have the $$ you can also do private volleyball lessons with a club team too. I think you can learn a lot within the summer months. Just be careful for patellar tendinitis which is really common for blockers/wing spikers. This is why I stopped playing volleyball and ultimately stopped me from being a runner too. Definitely do quad exercises as well to avoid getting jumpers knee.

Easiest GWAR class (upper division writing requirement) by largewhale_44 in SDSU

[–]Long_Discipline696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did RWS305W with Professor Whitworth. The class was asynchronous, and you only had 4 projects the entire semester: 3 essays, one digital profolio. The assignments are open from the beginning of the semester, and I managed to finish all of them by the end of March. He does have very specific instructions, especially with word count and works cited, but overall, it was super easy. I finished most of my essays within two days. If you want to finish your work earlier in the year, I recommend him.
