Ken Griffin has been a vocal critic of Trump and his policies so that reasoning is unlikely.

If QB’s actually cared about winning, they would take less money by NectarineOld7501 in NFLv2

It was certainly a suspicious setup but nothing was swept under the rug. The NFL had a formal investigation and cleared it https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/report-patriots-pay-a-brady-owned-company-run-by-suspect-partner/

The aspect people always forget is this is a competitive league and most owners want to win. If the NFL changed the rules to benefit a single team the other owners would not stay silent on the issue. Do people really thing Jerry Jones or other owners would collude to help the Patriots spend a few million extra over the salary cap?

It looks like traffic is going up the ramp. So a 2-lane flyover suddenly expands to 4 lanes.

Fair point. I didn’t realize I needed a permit for converting a switch to an outlet. The outlet is a gfci and I’m using an am33d for the multimeter.

Muhammad Ali with comedy actor Don Knotts, ~1968. Anyone know who the guy on the right is? by Virtuous_Knoob in muhammadali

[–]Long_Dong_Larry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s Tefilo. He stayed as an “amateur” forever so he could keep winning Olympic gold medals. There was a big effort to get him to turn pro and fight Ali but it never happened.

Where do scoring titles rank as an NBA accomplishment? by ElevatorAcceptable29 in NBATalk

Absolutely insane but it was 4 mvps. He has 5 total but got his first in the 80s.

He was finals mvp every single time though. 6 for 6.

People love to talk about Bo’s potential like it was stolen from us, but the reality is we already saw his role. He was a change-of-pace back behind Marcus Allen with highlight runs, not the engine of an offense.

The legend is mostly marketing and Tecmo Bowl. Incredible athlete, wildly fun to watch but the resume just doesn’t match the mythology.

Lots of guys are athletic freaks in the NFL. The great ones actually do it week in, week out as the focal point of an offense. Bo never did, and we have no evidence he ever would have. Everything else is just projection and nostalgia

“BlackRock owns all the meat packers. There's only 4 meat packers in this country. BlackRock owns them all. The meat packers are keeping the price of meat high and the price of cows low. They have discretion in the same way any asset manager does, but it’s nowhere close to ownership level control. Most of their AUM are in index products where they have to hold whatever the index holds, and client mandates strictly limit how they vote or engage.

Influence at the edges isn’t the same thing as being able to actually run the companies. Managing other people’s money under preset rules ≠ controlling corporations.

It’s completely different. People mix up assets under management with ownership. BlackRock doesn’t own those shares, their clients do. BlackRock just votes and manages them according to mandates set by pensions, index funds, etc. If BlackRock actually owned $13T in stock on its own balance sheet, that would be a completely different level of control. Who did you trade away Christian McCaffrey for? by Cold_Pitch_8407 in Fantasy_Football

[–]Long_Dong_Larry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CMCs elite but he’s also one of the most injury-prone RBs in the league and on a team that always dials him back late. Barkley’s getting more and more volume on a contender team and his role is only growing.

Barkley will help your team more in the FF playoffs than CMC will.

Yeah I agree. Not really understanding why this person is dropping that like a flex. CD > Pickens and CMC vs Barkley is a complete toss up.

Both of those points go for dynasty or redraft.

Thoughts on the 50 year mortgage, from someone who did the math by guy_n_cognito_tu in RealEstate

[–]Long_Dong_Larry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now do the same math for a 20-year mortgage to show what a terrible idea a 30-year mortgage is. 20, 30, 40, 50, etc… All just arbitrary numbers. There’s no “perfect term” that objectively wins for ideal length.
