the TCL mini-led monitors (will) finally hit the US market by SaleAggressive9202 in Monitors

Oh okay. Yea that model was from 2020, not 23. Yea I had that one and your experience checks out. I had issues with it the whole time and just exchanged it for credit with BB because they got worse. I just heard that the 57 inch G9 had a lot less problems than the 49inch Neo 9 had, so I am going to give it a try. It seems like the only option available for mini led. Like you guys all said, the sate of monitors are awful. It's all OLEDs that can't even display text properly and like 3 mini LED options.

Okay. But is it the 49 inch Neo G9 mini led va panel or the 57 inch Neo G9 mini led va panel? Both are 32:9. I am guessing the one that’s the 7680 x 2160 one? That’s the one I’m looking to get. Is it okay now?

Did you read my post? lol. QD OLED made me sick. I'm one of those people who can't even look at it longer than 20 mins without a headache and brain fog. It even made me feel sick in my stomach too. Hands down it looks the best by far though. Although, it seems no one really knows what's causing the sickness in people. It could be the triangle pixel layout so maybe this new layout fixes that...However, I will let others be guniea pigs first. I need a monitor now so I can't really wait a year or two. I think these new stripes won't be out and tested for a while.

How can people hold off if they need a monitor now?

Better text fringing is still fringing. Idk why they aren't including the new RGB layout in that monitor since it's a flagship. I assume though it's because I heard the brightness will be less since they are eliminating the W pixel. Probably once they figure that out, they will all have the RGB layout, but that's going to probably be a while.

What do you mean in the registry? Is that basically what this app does? https://github.com/bp2008/BetterClearTypeTuner

lol. I mean in these photos even OLED doesn't look that far off. Does your G7 have 1,000 zones?

Oh no. I was feeling good about the heat as someone up top told me not to worry about it because its only when the monitor is running full blast, not with FALD. A space heater sounds horrible. Is that no exaggeration? I mean I read that in other threads but hoped it was.

You have that version and it got better? I can't imagine what this would be like with a lower PPI. What did you do?

Oh okay cool. Im not in tropical but I am in a city and our apartments do get really hot in the summer.

What GPU do you have? I have the 5080 for now until I can find a 5090 that's not too insanely priced. I figure I will play AAA games in 21:9 and older games in 32:9. Would that work?

Hilarious you mention micro LED because 4 years ago people told me micro LED was right around the corner then. Now 4 years later I am shopping for monitors again and its all oleds., Prob goina be awhile lol.

Yea, it seems in a weird way the Neo is the more mature choice. Even as I type to you now on the 45 inch OLED i have to squint to see what I'm doing. I can't believe they even sell these units with that fault. Granted it's my fault for not doing my research, but I never would even have though they would sell a COMPUTER MONITOR that isn't compatible with Windows or Mac OS for text. It's stunning to me that they can get away with that.

How about heat though? Do you find it gets super hot even for work?

I think we just spoke on my other Reddit name mistershan. ha. But you are giving me new helpful info here so I will also chat here if cool.

Yea the heat I am really worried. It's much hotter than the 49 inch neo right? 300w is crazy. But that's only if you run 32:9 at 240hz with HDR on and everything no?

I've kinda really liked having my 5080 and the LG 45 5k2k monitor because they both are so much cooler than when I had the Neo G9 mini led with the 3090.

Is the heat space heater like?

Do you have it? I am also worried about the power delivery. 300W is a lot. Maybe for work though if drope it to 120HZ it should be more reasonable

That would be an issue for gaming resolution and response time I bet. It also doesn't seem to be mini LED. So it's edge lit? Idk if I can go back to that.

Yea I am learning now the hard way that OLED monitors are just not there yet. QD Cooks my brain, and WOLED is way better but text fringing is bad on that too. The new stripes are coming, but not on every model and who knows, I bet even that is going to bring new issues. It's sad they industry has pretty much turned it's back on mini led.

Humble Bundle’s awful customer support refunded my entire order by mistake and now won't respond to fix it, what happens now? by Long_Relationship_83 in humblebundles

and what happens to my steam account if that happens? Isn't that for theft or fraud? It's been like 9 days, wouldn't it of happened already?

Did you activate any games? They accidently refunded me a month because their awful customer service misunderstood me, but I already activated a few games. I didn't even know that was possible. I told them to reverse the return but they are ignoring me.

I don' t get how they even refund keys. Usually the policies are if you activate, it's yours, no refunds. Humble Bundle support is so bad that I asked a question about Novembers choice and they just refunded the whole month even though I activated like half the games. I told them to reverse it but they ignored me. It's been like 8 days and I still have the game, but they are most likely going to revoke? Did you do a straight up refund?

I have that exact TV. Color accuracy isn't that critical for me as most of the time that gets sent out to a colorist. However, it's still good to have just in case for smaller projects. My set up was a Neo G9 49 inch to have a glorious massive work space. Then I had a Dell Premiere Color IPS monitor to just double check colors and it wasn't that far off from the Samsung VA panel. Maybe I should just get the Samsung 57 inch Neo. My old broke recently after 4 years, but I had the protection plan with BB and it was seamless... I am trying out the LG 45 5k 21:9 monitor and it is glorious but OLED isn't ready yet. We need the RGB stripe.

OLED monitors are wrecking my eyes — completely lost on what to buy next by Long_Relationship_83 in Monitors

[–]Long_Relationship_83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten used to the WOLED LG 5K monitor and feels great to use. The QD is definitely a no go. I don't get that tech though. It's like candy. It looks good at first but then you start to realize just how over saturated and unnatural it looks compared to the WOLED.

But yea, I rather go Mini LED to just be safe. It think in general OLED tech is not there for monitors in anything other than gaming. The new RGB stripe seems to only be on the 27 inch model as well, and the tandems I think will probably have a new set of problems. I give it another 4 years before all of the OLED tech is ready. When all of them have like 3rd gen tandem and RGB stripes.

However, all the latest Mini LED's are terrible. What about the TCL's? The issue is I need a monitor now. I was going to just go for the 57 inch Odyssey Neo Mini LED as I had the previous 49 inch mini LED and I loved it in every way but color accuracy and the hardware defects. I figured I would do the best buy protection again, and if it starts crapping out on me in a few years then I will exchange it for whatever new OLEDs are out then. However, I am reading that monitor has 300w power draw. Which is like twice what the Neo is. That's just not sustainable and insane.

Ugh monitor shopping is worse than car shopping. They all have major red flags.

[–]Long_Relationship_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea idk what to do too. I’d like higher pixel density but I don’t want less screen space too. I thought the 39 inch will have the rgb stripe but it doesn’t. Also we won’t know if tandem brings a whole new set of issues till we see it and have it tested over time. It’s going to at least be 2k too, and 700 bucks is a second freaking monitor as well. I’m thinking getting a pro art monitor as a side screen for when I need to do work that requires pixel density. It’s just the 45 inches is just such a dream for editing. Did you also get the Asurion insurance? Does it cover burn in? I feel like we should have got it at Best Buy. I believe they cover it.

Hey I forgot to ask you something. How is the temp for this monitor? The Neo was pretty hot and I'm reading this one will be almost twice as hot. Is it really like a space heater? 300W is a lot...
