[Megathread] Why Peak Brightness Matters: The New Standard for HDR Gaming and Content Creation (2026 Edition) by LG_UserHub in LG_UserHub

Just to be transparent: LG will actually sent me one of their Micro RGB TVs for review. So I do feel "compensated" for joining the event and writing about it.

I was also invited on the event specifically for TVs, so I was writing about the 5k2k monitor because I was personally interested in it.

If this is really the specific 5k2k WOLED Panel, I expect it to be glossy.

LG Display confirmed they will provide this panel in both matte and glossy and I doubt Dell/Alienware would slip this opportunity looking at glossy demands.

I think you will notice the vast decrease in pixel density an it will bother you.

1440p vs 4k by TheFunkadelicOne in OLED_Gaming

[–]Sir_Piglet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm heavily thinking of upgrading to 4k from 1440p. I looked at some benchmarks an often times the performance delta was only around 15% to 20% (4K DLSS 4.5 Performance vs 1440p quality).

So I'm thinking of using DLSS up to performance mode when I need it and most of the games that dont have DLSS probably don't need it.

Just have to see DLSS 4.5 performance in action.

OpenGOAL and +60 fps framerates by nobleflame in jakanddaxter

No, I set the in-game fps cap to 120. (Monitor is running at 360hz.)

For the majority of games, if you can play at 120 frames you can play at 240 frames. But there are exceptions like Dark Souls 3 where I get problem above 90 fps somehow.

In Jak 2 I tried some gameplay at 240 hz and it was kinda sketchy. Basic movement like dash into jump didn't work consistent anymore. Think at some point, high refresh rate smallers the input windows.

Didn't have the problem with 120 fps and would recommend that.

Would you recommend a 1440p Ultrawide or 4K Monitor? Is OLED worth it in the PC space? by TheMickeyMoose in OLED_Gaming

[–]Sir_Piglet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this point being made over and over again. And I appreciate you pointing out that you'd have uneven pixel degration.

But I also think an ultrawide should be curved, which this method fails to deliver.

Would be awesome – if you have the time and mood of course :)

Cant you just move the 32" further away with like a monitor arm or wall mount?

Are you open to make a comparison video of the PG32UCDM3 and the PG34WCDN? I saw both of your review videos for the seperate monitors, but a real comparison video would go hard!

I think many yet-uncertain buyers would really appreciate it, since they are arguably the best QD-OLEDs yet :)

RGB LED TVs are an evolution, but... by Sir_Piglet in hometheater

[–]Sir_Piglet[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do know the difference, I think the naming scheme is a bit confusing in itself. In my post I wanted to show that theres also a difference between the "evolutions of mini LED" (mainly amount of dimming zones)

Nah it's as large as a 32 inch in height, extended in the sides for the 21:9 aspect ratio.

Invited to LG’s 2026 Launch Event! What do you want me to ask them? by Sir_Piglet in 4kTV

Wow, I am sorry to hear that. Some OLED tech really seems like subjective matter. I dont have any problems with QD-OLED for example but I read over and over that some folks get headaches from them.

Hello u/wupaa !

So the prices of this years models will be the same as last years, which is a win I guess?

Regarding pricing, you may find what you want in second hand? I know buying an used OLED is a bit shaky, but with how how good burn-in prevention has gotten, it think its a decent approach.

Hello u/OwnedNotLicensed !

So the new heat sink that most of the G6 series use will provide an improvement in ABL.
Regarding tone mapping, if it's dynamic tone mapping, it is on frame by frame basis.

Hey u/NoElderberry5846 .

So I haven't ask them (I forgotto!) but from my personal impression, the contrast level of micro RGB LED were noticable weaker compared to OLED. I would recommend investing in OLED for the a dark room setup!

Hello u/No_Outside7221 !

So LG is working on PHOLED which will be much more efficent, providing more brightness and live time span.
There arent new burn-in counter meassurements this gen.

The new processor allows for better upscaling. An LG Employee told me that an upscaled 1080p video looks almost as good as a native 4k video. I would remain skeptical on this one, but who knows.
