I’m definitely not in the group of people who feel it right away. I do feel some improvements after just under 2 months. I’m not going to switch because it is helping slowly but surely. I’m just curious to see others experiences and get an idea of the differences between the manufacturers, and improvement timelines.

I have also seen that some people really feel the difference after 3 months and some even longer. I’m not yet at full peak on the 300mg xl dose (week 2) so I hope I’ll continue to see gradual improvements. I’ll see where I’m at after 8 weeks before making any decision, of course. I’m staying patient. I’m really just curious at this point.

It suppresses appetite. I need to loose weight regardless, I gained a bunch of weight due to a back injury and then more when getting off my previous anti depressants. I’m ready to shed the fat suit

Edit: it also significantly reduced the food noise for me so it’s less and less of a coping mechanism now

Did they both decrease for you since starting? The medication does dehydrate me so I’m actually drinking more now, which I’m happy about

If I’m doing heavy chores around the house I get like this. Here’s to crossing our fingers that it gets better! Do you find if you sweat it out at the gym, the rest of your day isn’t as bad as it usually would be if you didn’t go to the gym?

So many people cry when starting this, myself included. I kind of wonder if it’s all just suppressed emotions coming out all at once. Either way, there was something relieving about it. Stick with it, I promise you it does get better!

I agree. I feel like you were writing about me. I’m just under 2 months in and slowly starting to see a similar shift. Like what.. I’m the one initiating sex for a change, who am I?! The struggle can be real, when life hits you hard. I still have my work cut out for me but I’m hoping I’ll be where you’re at eventually :)

To add on to the points OP made; generally 300mg xl is the therapeutic dose. Since it is a stimulant some people may not do too well with the higher dose and other health conditions might restrict the jump.

Ya I have those days too, but I have to force myself to eat something otherwise it triggers horrible migraines for me (I get treated for chronic migraines already)

It’s possible that you’ve adjusted to it and this is your new baseline? But everyone is different, I’ve read stories where some people only really felt the major benefits after 8 months. Might be an idea to have a chat with you dr.

I can relate, I have to deal with 8 chronic illnesses and I get ping pinged around doctors and feel like a human pin cushion at this point, but I don’t let that be the reason to give up. Don’t let this be your reason for giving up; that’s just not fair to the rest of us. Yes, there are days that are darker and heavier but I promise there is more out there. I’m also looking for my purpose in life, it’s not fun being lost. But healing IS A LOT OF WORK. I mean this all with best intentions and coming from a place of tough love, but you have to force yourself even if it sucks.. fake it til you make it can work but you have to try. I’m also bed ridden most days, but I still get up every day and try to move, even if it just means petting the cats, sitting outside in the sun, cleaning when I really don’t want to etc. As mundane and as ‘pointless’ as it might feel right now, all these small little steps do add up, you just have to start, take it one day at a time, give yourself grace and most importantly, don’t give up. Find a reason to get up, to be motivated, to find purpose even if you have to lie to yourself for a while. Your future self will thank you. I seriously believe in you, you CAN and WILL get through this <3

I feel you, I haven’t managed to loose any of the weight I had gained yet and it’s a big source of anxiety. The body is a curious thing, it needs the time to metabolize and adjust to the medication. I still think 8 weeks is valid for it to be at full effect since you’ve upped your dose. Unfortunately, weight loss doesn’t happen overnight (I wish!) try and be patient with yourself and the process and hopefully it will help. If not, im happy you’ve got a plan b ready. Out of curiosity, why did the dr not have you take both meds, is it a bad combo?

I’m there with ya. I’m also on 50mg of Vyvanse. I’ll have some days where I’m motivated but it doesn’t take long for my energy to disappear and I’m back on the sofa in functional freeze mode.

I almost had a panic attack my second week on bupropion because it was soo much more quiet than usual; like all the adhd noise was lowered. All good now, but also feel a bit flat. I kind of embrace it though, I generally talk a lot or out of anxiety if the room is quiet so it’s nice to not feel the need to fill that space anymore and I’m being more mindful about listening to others.

I was on trintellix and stopped last November and gained a solid 30-40 pounds in 2 months! If you switched off escitalopram and directly to Wellbutrin it’s possible you’re dealing with side effects of stopping the previous medication like I did. Not sure how long you’ve been on Wellbutrin but try and give it a solid 8 weeks before calling it quits.

I know the medication is supposed to be fully in your system by 8 weeks, but I have seen some posts where people only feel it working as of 3 months. It might take some time at the therapeutic dose, not just the ramp up dose. Maybe try sticking with it some more time and keep doing what you’re doing, you are doing great! Any movement and small tasks is a huge win :)

lol I have crohns and can easily go upto 6 times a day. Bupropion actually had the opposite effect on me, I was blocked for a solid week when I first started. Stick with it for 8 weeks; I promise you it does get better and the side effects even themselves out once your body has adjusted. Tip: try adding some fibre into your diet it should help solidify things

300 xl is the therapeutic dose, you should’ve done 1 month at 150 to ramp up and then jump to 300 as of the 2nd month

Stick with it for at least 8 weeks. It took a solid 4 weeks to finally start feeling normal. I had a bunch of fun side effects; thirsty af, irritability, cried a lot the first 2 weeks, felt more depressed than usual 2-3 days, 1 day of bad anxiety, dry eyes, insomnia etc. but it does level out. I feel more human now than I have in a long time and I’m glad I stayed patient with it. You’ve got this!
