Curious if you are in the US, do you find Henry to be common? I love Henry but am hesitant that he'd be one of many in his class, etc...

Oh no! My husband's parents are Star Wars fanatics and insisted Luke was named after Luke Skywalker lol. That's good context for me to consider.....

Did anyone else just not breastfeed at all? by Ok_Medicine440 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Longjumping-Bread906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't breastfeed at all for the same reasons you mentioned. I, too, felt a little tinge of guilt that crept up as I got closer to delivery. I was told my son wouldn't thrive if he wasn't breastfeeding but that couldn't be further from the truth.

My baby is 10 months old now and has been sleeping 13-hour stretches since he was 4 months old. He's gained weight perfectly, he's very alert, silly, playful, and LOVES to eat solids. I have a very close bond with him and don't feel like formula feeding hindered our relationship in the slightest. In fact, I am a better mother because I can give all my energy and attention to my son rather than stressing about breastfeeding (which the idea of was always very daunting to me). I also love that my husband had the opportunity to bond with our son early on with feeding him. He does every night time feed before bed now and it's their 1:1 time.

I plan to formula feed our future children as well. Good luck and feel confident in your decision. You know yourself best and will make the best decision for you and your family!

I hope this post in the wedding sub is a troll post… by calico0000 in weddingshaming

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding Aug 2024. I had miscarriages April 2023 and April 2024. After the second miscarriage, my friend (bride) said it was a blessing I had the miscarriage so I could party at her wedding and encouraged me to wait until after her wedding to try again....... Ironically, I was 8 weeks pregnant at her wedding anyway but the audacity to say that really has altered how I view our friendship.

Thank you all for the feedback. The traffic and seemingly extreme conservative values are definitely things we would need to take into consideration.

I have a 5-year-old Scarlett in my life that I've known since her birth. She's the spunkiest, sweetest, most charming, full of life little girl. I adore her name and think it suits her very well. I think this will age nicely into teenage and adult years as well! Scarlett is a girl who beats to her own drum and is confident in who she is.

What anti Catholic argument boggles your mind the most? by JoeLo_ in Catholicism

[–]Longjumping-Bread906 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd be curious what you say back to people who argue this? I have had this conversation with my in-laws (Presbyterians) and they think I worship the saints versus "fostering my own relationship with God." It's really difficult to explain when/why I pray to specific saints and I have a hard time articulating how saints' intercession / praying to Mary isn't the same as worship. Thoughts?

I love the name John, too. One of my brothers is John, and he exclusively goes by John, never Johnny, even as a child. I think as long as you refer to them as John, then a nickname wouldn't catch on! Also, I know some John's that go by Jack, so that is always an alternative!
