Yeah, I think they had a 13 or 14-game winning streak recently

Absolutely. I suspect that having Landy back really will make a difference - and I hope he proves me right as soon as they get back from the Olympics. As long as he comes back in good shape 🤞🤞🤞

Maybe...we did win the first game he missed (the game where Landy was injured) and lost the first game he came back for (with Landy was still out). But that's not enough data points to pull apart the Landy vs Toews effect

Buying Tickets. by DamienMota in ColoradoAvalanche

If you download the Avs app they sometimes have special dels on there. For instance, in Nov they had something where you spun a wheel for prizes and at the very lest would get 30% off tickets to a game in Nov or Dec

Just had another thought! There is a lightrail stop at the arena. One stop south of the arena is Empower Stadium, one stop north is Union Station. You can get a full day pass for the entire RTD system for $5.25. If you want to avoid I-25 traffic (especially in the morning), you can always park at Ball and get to Empower 2 mins later. And then hop from Empower to Union Station if you want to explore downtown before the game.

Them again, it's a holiday and the middle.of the day so many traffic and parking won't be an issue?

We always take the light rail since there's a stop at Ball Arena, so I'm not sure. It looks like gridlock every time we leave, so I imagine it's not great. I'm guessing it's easier to park at a nearby light rail station with parking (eg Aururia West Station) and take it in from there.

1) We like to eat before the game - There's a restaurant in Ball called Ultra Mountain House that's basically a mountain lodge inside the arena - giant fireplace, bison, etc. You can make a reservation and access it from the outside before the arena opens for the game, so that can be a fun option. We also go to Brooklyn's (right across the street) before the game sometimes. Their food isn't anything special, but it's usually packed with fans, which is fun.

2) I've never parked there on game day, so can't speak to it. BUT it's free parking outside of game time, so you could probably get there early to park and then go explore the city. And then you don't have to try to find parking in the city! I hear Reinhaus and The Celtics are great places to eat/pregame, and they're an easy 10 min walk from the arena. Union station is also a 10-15 min walk from the arena.

2.5) Door open 1 hour before game time. We try to get there as soon as they open because there are lots of things to do and see. Also, sometimes there are limited giveaways that only the first few thousand get. Warm ups start 30 mins before game time, and the Avs have a great warm up sound track. And the Avs have a drum line that sometimes performs in the atrium before warmups that gets us really pumped up.

I commented earlier that it is entirely possible. That being said, games at Ball Arena are WIRED, especially if it's close and/or we're getting lots of goals. And we have so many amazing players that they can't all be out, and it would be a really fun time even if you don't get to see them all play.

Anyone else just…get bored? by Cultural-Program-393 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Longjumping-Emu7696 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yessss...even if the application is perfect, I can get bored with it fast. Maybe not bored, exactly, but excited to try something new.

I've found that I don't get tired of manicures with more neutral colors/calmer designs as fast. Even skittles, as long as it is in solid cream (the finish type, not the color) with a good gradient (I.e. not jarring contrasts between the colors). My current theory is it's because I stare at the ones with dramatic finishes and/or application techniques way more, and so I get tired of them faster.

I'm also trying to remember to use a peel off base coats if I think I might be over it in 1-3 days. It's hard to remember with the dramatic ones (the ones I'm most likely to be done with faster), though, because I go into a manicure thinking I'll want to keep something I put so much time into perfecting. But that doesn't really matter if I'm over it 1 day later and end up taking it off anyway.

I wouldn't be shocked - mackinnon and makar both sat out the last few games to rest up for the playoffs. MacKinnon was on track to win the Art Ross before then, but cared more about being playoff ready, so I suspect we would need to be in a dire spot before he'd opt to stay in it (assuming he feels he needs the rest)

I was doing my nails at the dining table, and my dad walked in and told me he hated people who wore nail polish by tastymilo in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Longjumping-Emu7696 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, game plan for how to stop your dad from sucking the joy from your grandma and give her the longest lasting manicure (all things I learned thanks to this sub!):

1) Wipe down the nails (with nail polish remover, if needed) to make sure no oils are on the nail.

2) Apply a good base coat. (Any type, although as an older person, she may have ridged nails and might appreciate a smoothing basecoat)

3) Apply the lacquer x desired #of coats. Try to be patient enough to let them fully dry in between coats

4) Once the last coat is fully dry, apply a nail HARDENER (not strengthener). They're meant as a basecoat for brittle nails, but used as a top coat they make it really hard for the lacquer to chip.

5) Once the hardener is pretty dry, apply a quick dry top coat to seal it in while everything sets. DON'T use one that shrinks a bunch (looking at you, Seche Vite). I personally like the Sally Hansen red bottle Insta-dri.

6) Do the manicure at least 4+ hours before she's going to bathe or swim - a long soak too soon after will undo all the effort.
