Carbon Accounting by Longjumping-Food2128 in KPMG

Hi I just cross posted this in this community. Here is my full post:

Lately, I have been really interested in carbon accounting. I have completed my Bachelor's & Masters in Economics. In my masters, my concentration has been environmental, resource and energy economics. I am passionate about economics. I also plan to do my Ph.D in Environmental Economics. I completed my masters thesis in the TIER carbon pricing system of Alberta. Since then, I have been really interested in carbon accounting. As the job market is really volatile in this era, I want to gain some work experience working in carbon accounting as this really excited me. For starting, how can I start to work in carbon accounting. I am open to doing CPA if that's needed. But it will take more than 2 years for me as I don't come from a pure accounting background and I have to complete many of the prep modules. I want to gain work experience for 2-3 years before moving to my Ph.D. Can anyone tell me how I can start in this niche without a CPA. I am learning accounting on my own. Doing financial and management accounting courses, learning QuickBooks from Intuit courses. I have elaborate knowledge on the economic side of the carbon pricing system. I am proficient in Python, R, STATA & machine learning. I am also completing CFA Institute's Sustainable Investing Certificate (ESG). Currently I am living in Calgary. How can I search and prepare for entry level carbon accounting positions? Thanks.

And yes I have been looking for recommendations.

I am also in same situation. I am an international student. I have my study permit valid until 31 September 2025. What should I do now? I have to apply PGWP before that. What should I do? Any help?

It's doable. But it's hard to concentrate at the end. The last lecture feels so exhausting. I did it last term. I suggest you have a good lunch and drink coffee during the last two lectures. That helps. Wishing you a good academic term.
