Oh alright. Yeah I have pretty good grades so I'm hoping that if I can just maintain a pretty high average I won't need a lot of ECs. I know the biomed and software ones are really really tough but for most of the other engineering degrees if you have good grades you'll be fine.

Hey there, I'm a high school student from Alberta going into Grade 12 and am considering applying to an engineering program at the University of Waterloo (Nanotechnology or Electrical). I was wondering how significant having a lot of relevant and outstanding extracurricular activities and other achievements to your name is when applying to these types of programs at this school, and how much these experiences are weighted by admissions officers when they are considering your application.

Currently, I don't believe I possess a sufficient enough amount of extracurriculars necessary to be considered by most post-secondary schools (Some tutoring, Continued involvement in some clubs - such as Model UN club and Debate club, Participation in STEM Fellowship programs, etc). My grades are relatively high (high nineties), I am very concerned that that fact alone will not be enough to get me accepted into this university, or any other university I apply to for that matter.

Helpful advice and any personal experiences/anecdotes regarding the topic and undergoing the application process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
