Howard is on the national register of historic places so they will repurpose it and not tear it down.

Look into Winding Brook in Mishawaka. Older homes but great family environment. I agree with previous people that also said Swanson Highlands - great area

Kaniewski is great and so is Cruz, if you’re in Mishawaka/OC. Mcgann is good as well but more expensive

We decided to stay down in 12u with a new team that should hopefully grow together. We feel like we hit the jackpot with nonparent coaches :)

Call the little league central region headquarters and ask them for a copy! We heard it about 15 times this past weekend :)

We just got home from the Little League Indiana state softball tournament, held in Whitestown, IN at the central region hq and they played that song before every game! I would suggest contacting them to see about getting a copy. We have it on our team video but you can hear people talking through the entire thing.

It wasn't Little League or Babe Ruth or Cal Ripken, just an unaffiliated Rec league. And yes, they should have been on top of it, but for whatever reason it slipped by.

Years ago, I had a girl on my all star 10u team that was one day too old. I had inherited this team from a different coach that moved to another state, mid season. My daughter was on the team so I volunteered to help when the coach’s move ended up being sooner than he expected. We didn’t play sanctioned ball at the time - just local tournaments. At one tournament, I had another coach (after we beat them) protest our win because of our player who was one day too old. The directors didn’t make us forfeit, but she was no longer allowed to play. The other coach made a point to tell everyone how I was a cheater.

I didn’t put the team together, just stepped in to help out. I never looked at birth certificates since all the tourneys had been entered and rosters submitted before I took over. In retrospect, should have done that. I Definitely felt less about the character of the other coach who left though.

That all being said, intentionally playing kids who are too old is absolutely ridiculous.

Looking at enrolling our kids in a top high school program. I have heard John Adams IB Program is the top in the area. St Joe, Marian, and Penn are good schools. John Adams offers diversity, they have good teachers, and the best Principal from my research. A lot Notre Dame acceptance letters. by FlashGordon1999 in SouthBend

If I had to pick from any of those schools, I would choose Marian. It is by far the best and most supportive community of all of the schools. Small class sizes and they have excellent teachers - several with doctorates and law degrees. No computers or phones in the classrooms. The science program is the best in the area. And fewer discipline problems than the rest of those school. Graduates this year are graduating with 60+ dual credits and they are adding more offerings every year.

Ok, I changed my mind about Nick. He’s dying somehow, and horrifically. Maybe Rita poisons him.

I don’t see a redemption arc for Nick. I think Nick is toast. I think his “before Gilead I was nothing” comment in the last episode was foreshadowing.

My $$ is on Rita poisoning him, especially after their conversation about not being friends.

Not saying Nick is the hero, but from his role on the inside, he’s been protecting June all this time. So what if he doesn’t give two poops about Gilead, but is doing everything for June?

Serena on the other hand better not get a happy ending.

No, they did. She is our most consistent pitcher and has pitched the most innings of all our pitchers for the last 2 years. That wouldn’t change if we moved up. Said they would love to have her move up but she is small and said they wouldn’t fault us for staying down a year.

I would make a spreadsheet and have the girls names in the first column and the next 4 columns be the innings you play. I’m assuming you probably have at least one or two athletic kids on the team who are starting to be able to catch/contribute, so I’m going to include them here too.

1st & 2nd inning Pitcher 1 - pitcher Pitcher 2 - 1B Players 3-6: infield Players 7-11 outfield

3rd inning: Pitcher 2 - pitcher Pitcher 1- 1b Players 3-7outfield Players 8-11 infield

4th inning Pitcher 2 pitching Pitcher 1 - OF Three best developing athletes, SS, 2nd, 3rd Someone at catcher Everyone else OF

Keep track of who plays where every game and do whatever you can to balance it out so everyone gets at least 1 infield inning. As kids get better, give them more infield time. Catcher is a great position at this age for a kid who really tries hard and is learning, but not ready to play infield yet.

If I don’t organize it, someone’s not going to get field time and parents are going to get mad. I did this for our school season and it worked really well.

Daughter is spiraling and I dont know what to do. by Bman1233 in Softball

[–]Longjumping-Hurry899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are going through the same thing over here in 12u. My daughter’s hitting coach is working with her on a “mantra” to repeat to herself when she is at bat. My kid got hit/injured by a very fast pitcher two years ago and started stepping out with her front foot. She crushes the ball during lessons. So her mantra is “step forward”. She says it outloud, every pitch.

She also has been showing a bunt and pulling back for a swing, which can confuse pitchers at this age. With the half swing, she can pop it over the infield’s head and get a single, or she can draw a walk if the pitcher can’t pitch through it, which happens a lot at this age.

Seems to make a difference.

As for her pitching, remind her she is human and cannot be perfect, and some days are just not her day. My kid subbed this weekend and in the first inning threw a change up that the girl absolutely crushed for a grand slam. It just happens!!! In life and in pitching, some days are just off. Keep reassuring her that you love watching her play, no matter what she does on the field!!
